How to Save Money at Button Brand Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Please DO NOT take your fur baby to this place. Go to ANY OTHER VET in town!! My poor fur baby had unnecessary procedures performed by an extremely incompetent staff. My pet was left bloody (no bandages), unable to walk, in extreme pain & later died. The “Dr” diagnosed arthritis….REALLY? And for that he had to cut into my pet?!? I paid a $1200 vet bill!! Just to add insult to injury I received an additional bill + interest 2 years later which included a charge for dog food (I had a cat. Never owned a dog)

I had an awful time at this clinic! Their receptionist has the most horrible attitude! They are not clear on prices and overcharged. While I was in the receptionist was getting a super nasty attitude with a person of Asian descent for having an accent! I went in because I thought that my cats incision was open and it turned out it wasn’t! So I paid $270 for an antibiotic and for her stomach to be shaved!!!!!! Highway robbery! Will never go back! Mainly because I got treated like trash by their receptionist!

Recently adopted a dog, the pound said we could pick her up from the clinic on Monday because thats the day she was getting spayed. We picked her up and a week pater got a phone call saying that she still needed to be spayed. We asked what happened and they said theyd call us back and never did. We tried to make another appointment to see if she actually got spayed or not along with getting her stomache checked out and once again we were told we'd get a call back and never did and after 2 phone calls going straight to voicemail we decided to drop in. Told the lady at the front desk the situation where we were met with immediate attitude saying that she was too busy to help us and would help us in a bit and after waiting over an hour with only 2 patients in the waiting room we decided to leave and make an appointment elsewhere. Don't take your pets (especially newly adopted pets) here, they don't know what they are doing and never get back to you. This has been a 4 week long venture of dodged calls and questions with no answers when all we wanted was to see what they had on file for our pup and what they supposedly have or have not done.

Recently adopted a small dog from the county shelter and took her here for her spay because of theor contract with the shelter. I paid extra for laser surger and iv fluids. When we picked her up there was an additional charge on. It turns out our new baby was pregnant. They did not call us or give us any options. They just spayed her anyway and charged us an additional 48.00 for aborting her puppies.

Newest visit I brought my pup in for a spay, paid though the animal shelter, and when i went to pick her up, they charged me an extra 30 for her being in heat, so now I dont have money for other things because it was never stated that her being in heat would cost more. She wasn't showing signs of heat at home and i have had many female dogs. DON'T GO HERE They called and gave me an emergency number to call, and let me know the Anastasia is still wearing off, stilconcerneded about the pain me, s buI'llll see how she is in the morning I adopted a kitten from Kitty City/button brand, i paid at the even for the spay and mircochip. When i brought her in, they tried to carge me for her being in heat. Then he told me they failed to complete her shots and we needed to restart at my expense. I brought my poor girl home today from the spay and shes so out of it wobbly and crying out in pain they gave me no meds to admister at home, other vets have when my boy cats were nurtured. I wouldn't have ever gone here if it wasn't already paid for. I will update this post on how my baby is doing. Good or bad. Smelt awful, and they had a dog up for adoption in the waiting room that looked terifyed and wouldn't even come near anyone. I think it means to let her sit scared all day. I also dont recommend Kitty City. iv gotten a lot of sick kittys from them If you need good service and dont care price, Leslie is great. If you still want good care, but price is a concern, Paw in hand is small and super friendly. (They actually give you meds and allow you to buy a soft cone for spay/Neuter)
