How to Save Money at Willingboro Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I love this place. When I had to put my puppy down due to his health, the staff was so helpful and sympathetic... I ran into the office, not knowing what to do with him in hand, they saw him immediately!! Took care of it free of charge. I was so broken-hearted and appreciative all at the same time. They called to check up on me the following days after. I now take my new puppy there.

If I could give this place a zero stars I would. We recently took our dog in due to an injury. Dr.jacobs stated he could not evaluate her with putting her under anesthesia. Our dog is not aggressive just a little anxious. Instead of trying a little harder all he did was send her home with pain meds. We also took her a few months ago to get a growth checked on her leg. We were told it’s nothing serious and it would go away on it’s on. After our recent experience I decided to go get a second opinion from another vet they were able to evaluate her right away without putting her under anesthesia like Dr. Jacobs had originally recommended. They right away within five minutes of her appointment told us she had an ACL tear and the growth that this vet had said will go away is a tumor and needs to be biopsied to see if it is cancerous or not. Due to the incompetence of this vet if this tumor is indeed cancerous it could’ve been caught a lot earlier if they did their due diligence. I urge you to proceed with caution if you were using this vet as their diagnosis are not correct and they are just after money it seems.

We had a 9:50 appointment on a Sunday. They were very busy. I've been going to this veterinary hospital for a long time now, that's the busiest I've seen them. We sat for about 20 minutes before being taken back to the exam room. Once we were in there, I thought it was another 10-15 minutes before we saw the vet. The Dr came in and did a thorough exam on my dog. Then, we sat for about 5 minutes before we received the medication. They just got a new software system, so they are still working out the kinks. Overall, I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. They're always very friendly and accommodating. Don't know if I'd make an appointment on a Sunday again, though.

I can’t say greater things about this vet office, from the reception to techs to the doctors themselves. I have a reactive dog that needs to be muzzled for visits and they treated him like their own, always took their time with him, went slow and always reassured him! During Covid when I couldn’t go in with him they gave me nothing but raving feedback on how well he was for them, and I believe it’s because how caring the staff truly is. With our other dog they were just as amazing! She had an incident where she had to go to the emergency vet, they made it a point to call us a few days later to check in on her!! If you’re looking for an office that cares and explains everything to you, this is the one! Stark and Luna thank you guys for everything.
