How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Nassau Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I called to schedule an appointment for my cat for as soon as possible this morning to help figure out my cat's urinary problems. My cat had been to the emergency room twice in the previous 2 weeks for suspected urinary blockage but he was not blocked when brought in, so I was hesitant to bring him a 3rd time and pay the emergency vet bill. When I told the receptionist my story, she asked me to send over my cat's recent discharge papers from the ER. The doctor reviewed the papers and called me back to strongly advise I not wait for an appointment and go back to the emergency room. Fortunately, I listened to the advice, because my cat was in fact blocked this time and underwent an emergency procedure. I'm hoping my little guy ends up alright. Thank you Nassau Animal Hospital for your genuine concern for our pets!

They have been taking care of my cats for almost two decades. Their prices are reasonable and their staff is great. They were not judgmental about my indoor-outdoor cat.
