How to Save Money at Murray Hill Veterinary Associates
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We have been clients at Murray Hill for about 11 years now. We started with Dr. Brody and through the years have seen almost all of the other doctors for issues that come up when he is unavailable. We have always been very pleased with the service and care they have provided our dogs. Sadly, one of our dogs became very sick and was under the care of Dr. Brody who we were following up with biweekly, but at some point due to our work schedules we needed to make a switch. Patty knew how sick Cooper was and made it a priority to get us in with Dr. Horowitz and made sure he was up to speed on all that was going on. He stepped in and cared for our dog the same way Brody had been. While I admit I was scared of switching at such a crucial time because we trusted Dr. Brody to be honest with us when “the time” came, we quickly became just as comfortable with Dr. Horowitz & the guidance he was giving us. Sadly, we had an emergency while he was out of the office, but were fortunate enough to be helped by Dr. Flora. We had to make the most difficult decision of our lives that day and she was the most compassionate, kind hearted supportive woman we could have asked for. Although, we hadn’t worked with her many times before it was as if she knew us forever. She took the time to read all the notes before meeting with us and took the time to evaluate our sweet boy from head to toe and ensured us we were making the right decision. I came here to write a review for the first time in 11 years not because their care wasn’t good all the other times, but because it’s in the hard times that you realize just how much they care about their clients. They are worth the wait. They are worth the hold times. They are worth all the things some people below might find issues with. They are worth it because THEY CARE! So thank you to all the employees at Murray Hill, but especially to Dr. Brody, Dr. Horowitz, Dr. Flora, Dr. McComas and of course Patty too! We wouldn’t have made it through the last six months without your support! ❤️

The entire staff is amazing! Everyone is so nice with our dogs that they actually enjoy going to the vet now. They are so knowledgable and take the time to explain everything in such simple terms. The care they give to our dogs is above and beyond. It can get really busy sometimes, but on average we don’t have to wait too long for our appointments. There is plenty of parking.

Everyone at Murray Hill goes above and beyond for your animals needs. From the front desk, back end, vet techs and ofc vets my dogs and myself are always greeted with a smile and lots and lots of belly scratches and love. Dr. Pedro is so sweet with the dogs that they don’t even realize they’re at the vet. I would recommend this facility to everyone with furry friends Thank you Murray Hill staff

The MH Vet staff went above and beyond showing compassion for my 19 year old cat leading up to and at the end of his life. I could not have asked for a better team of professionals to care for him and guide me during what was an incredibly difficult time. I will be forever grateful to the entire team. I wish I knew everyone’s name but a special shout out to Dr Irene and Dr Pedro.

First time to Murray Hill to establish care for our two pups. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warm smiles from everyone at the reception desk. One by one the women at the desk came over to give our pups pets. I was helped right away filling out intake paperwork. We had a very short wait to see Dr Darby (the wait was only due to the fact that she had to review the dogs previous files). I cannot say enough about the kindness that was shown towards me and my pups. I would recommend Murray Hill to everyone and anyone who needed a vet, especially animals who are anxious like ours!
