How to Save Money at TRI STATE SPAY NEUTER and VETERINARY CLINIC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My kitten was neutered yesterday. Drop off was a little chaotic but the most important thing was that his operation went off without a hitch. Very grateful for the work they do for our community! He’s resting very comfortably today.

Went for my scheduled appointment yesterday 01/14/2026 at 10:30. The lady at the computer stated she could not find it. However, she explained they were on a new software system so things were messed up. She looked and said there was an appointment for us on 01/05/26 but they were not open!! Next she stated there was an appt on 01/24/26!! I told her it was on my calendar and I specifically remember because it was my birthday. I also told her I get that software transfers can be a pain. As I was trying to be patient. She went back and discussed with whomever, which took forever! Meanwhile my sweet cat is in a crate inside my car crying. He just needed updated shots. She came back and told me that they could not see my cat until 3:15 and there was NO appointment. I asked for the manager and a lady who was watching the whole time acknowledged she was the manager. I told her that I was not going to bring my poor cat back at 3:15. This was on them not me. She just smiled and said nothing. I left out the door and I was pissed! Not ever going back to this place. My goal was to give them some business since they advertise a lot. Lesson for the day: Stay with your tried and true vet ALWAYS!

We had an outstanding experience with the staff and Dr Jackie. We have two large dogs that needed their annual shots. They had all the shots, took the blood for testing, checked them both over carefully and took a great amount of time answering questions we had about both dogs. One of our dogs needed an xray and blood panel done and everything was pretty affordable considering it was both dogs needing everything done and we got dewormers and meds. The staff was very friendly and handled the dogs as if they were their own. Getting in with an appt wasn't bad. We had to wait about a week to get in. So glad we went here for our dogs care.

Tri State is a wonderful veterinary. I've had to bring my dog here a few times and the genuine care and customer service is exemplary. Thank you for always taking care of Jay. I appreciate it very much!!

Tristate Veterinary clinic provides excellent care and treatment for animals that have never known the terror of abuse or neglect. They provided excellent care for my older dog who had skin issues and a kitten that needed to be neutered. That being said, the kids that work in the surgery appear to have no ability or training with animals who have not been so lucky. I recently rescued an elderly dog from a kill shelter. He is very sweet except for when he is grabbed by someone.Due to this, he was muzzled prior to being taken back for surgery. The first thing they did was to remove the muzzle and they were surprised when he began snapping at them. So instead of anesthetising him, removing the muzzle once he was alseep, doing the surgery , and restoring the muzzle before he woke up, they had a dog they could not deal with. This was due entirely to lack of forethought or planning. The kids responded angrily to the dog. There was no compassion for him. Their only concern was their safety which was at risk due entirely to their actions. Due to other factors, namely the need for preoperative bloodwork a full day in advance, which was not communicated to me in advance, and the fact that he was over medicated due to my efforts to ensure the safety of the staff, the surgery could not be performed that day. I was told that they have no policy in place for “bad Dogs”. I felt terrible that I had taken him to a place that had no compassion or understanding for abused animals. The last thing he needed was to be surrounded by angry kids who saw him as being wilfully bad. My point is, Tristate is great for your puppies and kittens that have not had to suffer abuse. Murphy appears to be deficient in health care for animals rescued from abuse and neglect.
