Words cannot express how fantastic this place & the staff are here. Our puppy did what puppies do which is get into things they are not suppose to, and got a huge dose of Albuterol. It was scary but the staff was kind and understanding no shame just fast action and great care. They were transparent and up front with the cost, even provided a break down of the pricing when we left. When our sweet boy left they had nothing but lovely things to say about him. When our dog left it seemed like he had just been hanging out with friends, and not sick at all. If your dog is in a crisis and in need of care there is no place better!

Today is the one year anniversary of my dog’s horrific surgery experience with Wake Veterinary Medical Center that likely contributed to her death. I have waited a year to write this to ensure I was clear minded and not speaking badly of people without just. As the anniversary approaches, especially on a Holiday, I feel it is more important now than ever that I share my experience for YOUR dog’s safety. Short story: If your dog has a life threatening medical emergency, I BEG you, do not take them here. Long story: We brought our dog in for a foreign body which we knew would likely require surgery. Despite her surgical history, records were not obtained. She was opened up for surgery and closed before surgeons misidentified surgical mesh for an ear ring. She was opened up for a second surgery without our consent. She was sent home to us with an abnormally large abdomen that was later found to be bodily fluids from being in sepsis. She was sent home essentially in worse shape than we dropped her off. After taking her back just hours later for the doctors to look over her, knowing something wasn’t right, the vet on duty didn’t even give her a physical exam. Sent us out the door with pain meds. After agonizing hours at our home, which unknowingly was the last time she would ever be at home, we took her to another emergency hospital. Here, the surgeon reported a separated nerve blocking blood flow to her colon and multiple lacerations to vital organs like her spleen and a golf ball size tumor on her liver that was not reported in her original surgery. After a week of hospitalization, our dog died. While I will never know what role this practice’s negligence played, I know it didn’t help. For the record- I have tried to reason with the practice manager. I have spoken to the practice owner. I would love to speak to the surgeon but he has not called me back. I’m not looking for vengeance, I am hoping to prevent others from making my mistake. Pet parents, please know, you can submit a case to the North Carolina Board of Veterinary Medicine for a thorough review of your dogs case. I intend to once my heart is ready. You have three years from treatment date.

I love Wake Veterinary Medical Center. I've taken two of my fur babies there for after hours emergency care. My first had to have a cast put on, stitches and a drain put in. My second unfortunately had passed away and I brought him in to be cremated. Both times the staff was very caring and sympathetic to my situation. They took very good care of both my babies during these difficult times and I was so appreciative as both times I was a crying mess. I will only use them as my emergency vet.

The staff here is amazing. They took great care of our newly adopted girl, kept us in the loop at all times, and they did an amazing job with her surgery. We were sent home with clear post-op instructions, and overall the cost was less than other estimates.

The staff at Wake Veterinary Medical Center were amazing. We arrived just before 6:30am with our 3 year old German Shepherd having a medical emergency. We were immediately taken back to a room and diagnostics worked up. They were in the middle of a shift change but staff kept us updated during the entire process. I appreciated that they reviewed the cost of bloodwork and labs up front so there were no surprises. Our sweet fur baby is back home recovering and I am so thankful they took such good care of her.
