How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Alpine Veterinary Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We started taking our young pup, Rio, to Alpine Vet after a frustrating journey with a previous vet in the valley. Rio had frequent seizures which resulted in an untimely and tragic passing last month. Dr. Heidi was an incredible provider and really guided my husband and I through all of the medicine changes prior to our boy's passing. All of the front desk gals were always attentive and called us back whether we were experiencing a mild emergency or had a question regarding Rio's meds. We felt supported and as though Rio was getting the best possible care all things considered. Last month we had to rush Rio to Sentinel Emergency and hours later ended up saying goodbye. Only a few days after this we received a sympathy card from Alpine Vet and its wonderful, empathetic staff. My husband and I were so moved by this simple action and will never stop being grateful for this clinic its staff. We just recently agreed on getting another puppy and will absolutely be calling Alpine on Monday to get our latest family member scheduled to see Dr. Heidi (hopefully she is accepting new patients). Your pets will experience the best care and you will be met with unmatched support and empathy, regardless, of what situation you may find yourself in.

Been going here for five years and have been loyal to them. Called to ask about my dogs nail and getting her seen, they wanted me to drop her off to get surgery without even seeing her. I told them no I wanted to be there to discuss options with them if it did need to happen. For that I'd have to wait months. Called about my cat who as asthma and needs a refill. I need to bring him in in order to get more meds according to them and they have no openings until December(it's April!)Very disappointed. Seems as though they're taking in way too many patients. They used to be hands on, open availability and you were never given the option of drop off, which scares me. I understand that they would call me during drop off to discuss options but the fact that I told them one little thing and the jumped to surgery... They just seem money hungry. They used to be very friendly. I'm never going here again. This issue with my cat is non emergency but he NEEDS to be seen within the next few weeks. Called another vet and got an appointment two days from now. Alpine isn't worth it. They don't prioritize old patients.

If you have a bully breed dog, I would consider choosing a different vet. Me and my Roommates took their pit bull mix to this vet for an ear infection and the vet seemed very uncomfortable and fearful while treating her. This dog has no history of biting anyone EVER and has a very sweet and calm disposition. Despite showing no signs of aggression, she was muzzled during the exam. The fear around bully breeds is baseless, and the vet examining her showed unprofessional and uncaring behavior.

I wanted to give 5 stars but figured I would hold off since we are somewhat new clients still. Up until now there hasn't been anything worth complaining about. Dr. Green is great with my dogs and now, with my newly adopted kitty. She shows a love for the animals and isn't afraid to get hands on (which has been a problem in the past due to the breed bias of other doctors). You can tell she enjoys her job and has compassion for your pets, but she also keeps it professional and respectful. We've always had quick, easy, and friendly visits. If there absolutely had to be one thing about this vet clinic to criticize, it would be the front desk employee's, and vet assistants. Not much of a welcoming vibe as you come in the doors and get checked in. Everyone is very polite but that's it. Just polite. I understand that they are all probably busy, but it never hurts to take a moment and help a client and their pet feel important as opposed to just another customer at the end of the day. But all in all I love my experience with Alpine so far. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy vet.

Definitely recommend! Always very friendly and at a reasonable price. I have been taking my dog there for 4 years and I've never had a bad experience. We are always seen on time or within 5 minutes of arrival, and our appointment has never taken longer than an hour. My dog isn't scared of the vet and I think that says a lot to their treatment of her. I am confident my dogs best interest is the highest priority at Alpine Vet 🐕
