How to Save Money at Ozark Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I live nearest to Harrison Arkansas, and I have had several BAD experiences at the Harrison Animal Clinic, so... I chose to take my little rescue puppy, who tested positive for Parvo, to this Ozark veterinary clinic, and they were absolutely amazing. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! They were reasonable, considerate, compassionate, and very informative. And, to boot, they gave me an upfront estimate of the charges with two options, treatment at home or, in house, which is unbelievable! NOTE: I once rescued a puppy in OK who we found to have parvo. They demanded an $800 deposit before allowing me to leave the puppy at the facility. Ozark Vet Clinic only charged me $300 to leave her, and the total cost of treatment, to leave her in house was less than 600, which was amazing!I This facility will always be my go to Clinic and I would highly recommend them to all of my friends and family! This is an amazing clinic!!! Please pray for this little puppy. She's still with us today, but she's not out of the woods yet. Once she's well, we will be looking for someone to adopt her her! She'll make someone a great dog someday. She's very smart like her momma, who we saved also! Unfortunately, we couldn't find her brothers and sisters. 🥺

So grateful for this team! My little 2yr old Chug suffers from bladder stones and randomly got one while we were vacationing in Branson... 345 miles away from our regular vet. My dog was in so much pain that he could not stand, he could not use the restroom, and he was utterly exhausted. I tried to call 6 different clinics with no luck, until I was referred to this one - and I'm so glad they were willing to take him in. The Ozark Vet team listened to me, trusted my judgement, & understood my concerns. They had him in and out in under 2 hours (w/ existing appointments + other pup emergencies to take care of.) They also sent us home with medicine to keep him healthy and comfortable, and the final bill was totally reasonable and worth every penny. Thank you so much for your care, efficiency, and expertise! Winston enjoyed the last few nights of our vacation with your help, and we owe it to you.❣️

Great service, and don't take advantage of loving pet parents. My dog got mauled by 3 much larger dogs, I didn't have much in my savings and was worried we'd lose one of our babies due to ridiculously over priced surgery. They performed and delivered at a price I could afford and did all the follow ups at no additional cost. All I can say is Thank you!

I was referred to OVC as a potential clinic to get ortho surgery for my cat that developed a luxating (floating) kneecap or patella. OVC is one of 3 places in MO that do the surgery and since I live in Spfld...Ozark was the most logical place for the obvious reason and more importantly the price $$$ The other 2 places that do the surgery are more that double the cost of OVC. There is a reason for that which I won't get into..suffice it to say that even if the other 2 places were closer, I still would have gone to Ozark. Dr Ketchum & staff are awesome...highly recommended. It's a busy place so there may be a wait to get an appt. Oh yeah, and they actually let you go into a room with your pet...unlike some of the clinics in Spfld.

I am SO GRATEFUL that I took my cat here today for blood work. They were able to get me in when no one else could, and it was very important that we get accurate blood work done today. They were all very kind. And the vet who spoke with me was very informative. She actually made me feel way, way, way better about some worries that I've been having that other vets have not really eased my mind about. This is the third vet I've asked my questions to. But this is the first time that I've felt relieved after they answered these questions. I'm just so very thankful that I can finally rest on some answers. I said, "I got my cats as kittens, when I was 18, and so this is the first time I'm ever dealing with elderly cat problems, and I'm trying to figure it all out." And the vet said, "So, you've grown up together." Yes, my cats and I have grown up together 🥹😪 I really appreciate that this vet was equally compassionate about my worries and feelings, as she was about my cat. I think sometimes vets are very good to the animal but forget that the person needs their compassion as well. I'm so glad the universe put me in this vet clinic today.
