How to Save Money at TLC Cat Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have been taking my cats to TLC Cat Clinic since I moved to Plymouth several years ago. When I first started there, I had a pair of senior cats with a lot of medical needs, and Dr. Shea and her amazing team of veterinary technicians took such good care of my boys and of me. The entire team is gentle and compassionate with all types of cats, from shy to spicy, and they have always been so respectful and empathetic to me as a pet parent. Everything from vaccines to nutritional advice to surgical and dental treatment to end of life care is done with expertise informed by the most up-to-date information in the field and delivered with the utmost professionalism. When I lost my last pair within a month of each other, the staff at TLC were so kind and caring, and when I welcomed a new pair, they were just as wonderful and helpful as ever. I honestly can't say enough great things about this clinic. 5/5 stars, never leaving.

TLC is the best. They are so thoughtful and care about every cat that come through the door. The vets and vet techs are amazing. I would highly recommend them to care for your furry friends.

This clinic proved excellent care to my cats. I loved how quiet and friendly the layout was for appointments. The DVMs were kind and worked slowly to reduce my cats' anxiety.

The previous owners were wonderful! The new owners have seriously deteriorated the reliability of this once amazing cat clinic. Very disappointed in the new management. Prior owners were more transparent than they were, during the pandemic I tried getting my cat seen and like most vets during that timeframe hours were reduced and being seen was a long wait time. At their suggestion I set up appointments that I did not end up keeping and canceled due to either getting in to another vet faster or the issue cleared up on its own. After attempting to make an appointment today I was asked for a deposit and a card number to be able to make an appointment. I had to ask for the amount, this was not openly shared, the required amount was $100… I then asked when this started and all that was originally communicated was that it was a new policy put in place. I had to ask many questions just to get them to admit they were only charging me this fee due to those prior cancellations. So not only were they not forthcoming or transparent back then and now… I’m unfortunately writing this review to express how horrible their communication and business practices now are. They bought the name from the previous owners and tried to buy their credibility. They lack compassion and integrity. These new owners seem to only care about money and nothing more. I will gladly go somewhere else. And after reading the reviews it is obvious I am not alone in this. Hopefully these new owners are able to take into consideration how their lack of transparency is only hurting their business. The care for my pet comes first, and those appointments from the past were made because they needed to be seen asap. They did not deliver then and they still are lacking now. I hate writing negative reviews and usually don’t for businesses but I am now because of lack of ownership on their behalf. Zero transparency and if you don’t ask the right questions you won’t know the truth. I cancelled two appointments. They are stating it takes five last minute cancellations? So this is simply straight discrimination. The two appointments I cancelled were during Covid. And they were never last minute cancellations either. The cat I tried bringing to them was a kitten at the time in 2020. He’s 4 years old now,. Limited hours. Limited availability. During the pandemic. That was the circumstance. The last time I was at this vet was in 2017. With the prior owners. Unfortunately this small business lacks understanding, professionalism, maturity and compassion. Further proving my point by their response to my negative review of their business practices. They’re unable to take any accountability for their part. Their lack of transparency, professionalism and maturity reflects in their response to this post which was expected. As anyone can see in other posts from customers who were seen at this vet and charged for services not disclosed to them and also not appropriately treating pets brought to them. As their response stated, “they are a small business”, and they need to protect that. The prior owners were also a small business and they thrived on how they actually treated their customers and patients. They were well known for their service, work, integrity and compassion. I’m disappointed the new owners are ruining what once was a reliable small business to bring your feline to. Not the same experience. Be better to your future customers and be transparent with your requirements on who you allow into your practice.

This is our regular even though it's a 15-25 min drive from our home (that's a lot of cat crying in our car!) but we love this cat ONLY vet. No dogs allowed. We've come here for over 10years. I know one of the vet techs has been there for that long too! They get us in quickly when we need it. Currently one person can go in with the cat for the visit. They recently updated the lobby, and I think changed owners a few years ago, and updated their website, love that! They really are sweet and thorough with our cats, 2 days ago we brought our black cat in because he was drooling excessively and Google said to bring the cat in immediately, we got in the same day, they really really looked him over, opened his mouth and used magnifying lenses in there! Gave us some meds and they'll call to check on him in a few days.
