How to Save Money at Blaine Central Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Upgrading my review to because my mother has told me they did talk to her and took things seriously, which is very important and appreciated. __________________________________________________________ August 2024: Wouldn’t recommend them—there are a lot of better vets out there and this one is pretty expensive too (my family spent $700 on the family cat last week. They were told conflicting information about getting the results; they said they would call but never did. After spending $700 you’d at least expect them to call and ask how the cat is doing; it’s what other places do :/ but whatever ) I’m writing this recently adopted an 18 week foster kitten who unfortunately had an untreated roundworm infection that resulted in him stopping eating, throwing up, being exhausted, etc. and I was extremely distraught. I went to urgent care at the beginning of the month and was given some medication and told to follow up with a vet after 2 weeks so I decided to go to my family vet and my mom called to book the appointment. I had been there in person before to bring our family cat in, so I thought it might be alright because I’m familiar with it. Unfortunately, I am sick today (8/22/24) and had to have my dad bring him. I live in St. Paul and my parents are in Blaine, so he spent 90 minutes driving both ways through rush hour to bring him to the vet for me. He was not expecting it to be that long and was running 10-15 minutes late to the appointment that, according to the confirmation notification I got, was for 4:20 pm. Apparently new clients are supposed to come 10 minutes early though? So they said we’d need to reschedule, then said that they might be able to squeeze him in, but then when my parents got there, said no again. I understand timeliness matters obviously, the issue was the lack of showing concern for my cat’s health and the sentiment of how they responded. They were very cold; my mom expressed how she was extremely concerned about the infection becoming worse again if they didn’t get the medication (which was… Literally all that was needed and the only reason for the appointment; delaying treatment for parasites can result in having to more-or-less start from scratch). But the secretary lady didn’t care. The vet walking by my mom being concerned about her confidence in them overall didn’t even bat an eye either which is what is really the red flag for me. And this is all coupled with the fact that they don’t really share the same sentiment for client’s time as my mom has had several experiences of having to wait in the office for long periods before seeing the vet. Like I’m sorry but he’s a kitten, some of the most innocent creatures on this planet and other vets care SO much. I have had so many great experiences with people who love animals; but here, even after seeing his fluffy adorable self and how much concern my mom had for him, treated the situation this way. Yeah, policy is policy but horrible communication coupled with being at a high price point is off-putting. I hope you guys read this with an open mind and learn to treat people with more empathy; I hope those considering you choose to support the great clinics in the meantime. It seems like this lack of care is a recent development so my mom is pulling all of her animals from there and I’ll be finding… Literally anyone else.

I've been bringing my dog to Blaine Central Veterinarians for several years after transferring from another clinic. Staff are always friendly, compassionate, and patient. They take time to listen to my concerns and answer the many questions I sometimes have, whether it's for my pet's surgery, medical issue, or regular checkup. They also inform me of the cost of services before moving forward with tests, x-rays, etc. They always follow up with a telephone call a couple of days after our visits to see how my dog is doing/improving. I also love how they have pets who visit their clinic in a rotating photo sideshow on their computer screens. What a fun idea! My only negative comment is regarding their pet perks program where the cost of your visits earn points towards discounts on future services. It's not very good, though, and actually quite disappointing. I know they dont have to offer amything, but since they do, for what I've spent since the program started, I should have at least earned a free check-up.or two! They really should consider improving this program.

Amazing veterinary clinic. Very clean, doesn't smell, decent sized patient rooms, and very friendly staff. My vet is Dr. Dana Livingston and she is just wonderful. I can tell she cares for all pets and people that go here. The techs are awesome, too. Make sure you get your appointment in as soon as possible because they're scheduling out a couple of weeks - I can't blame them if everyone wants to go here! Seriously, wonderful place. Thanks for taking care of my cats!

Dr. Laseke and the team showed the highest level of professionalism and dedication when providing urgent care to our labo late Friday afternoon. They took their time to locate and remove a 3" stick that had pierced through the underside of her tongue, completely hidden from view. She's already back to her happy, wacky self. Thank you Blaine Central vet team!
