How to Save Money at Natural Healing Pet Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

When my sweet capone got diagnosed with osteosarcoma it wreaked my world. Finding these beautiful souls made accepting and fighting for my boy so much easier. Unfortunately today he passed but Dr. Sarah and her team fought so hard for capone.. we all did. But the cancer was too agressive. The team loved on him like he was their own and I wouldn't trust my animals with anyone but them. Thank you for fighting for pone yall. Love u all. 💓

This clinic is very helpful, and I was referred to it through a family member of the doctor who eventually saw my cat. The clinic offered a great level of care for my senior cat who was very sick, and everyone I spoke with there was friendly and compassionate. Even though my cat had what was likely to be cancer which eventually took her life, Dr. Nicole LeVeque fought for my cat and did what would be best to help my cat get better if possible, spoke to another specialist for additional insight, and went above and beyond for my cat; eventually when it looked like the illness was so advanced that it was my cat's time to go, Dr. Nicole provided amazing care to ensure that my cat was comfortable for the remaining time God had left for her. The doctor was respectful of what I wished for my cat's care, and that means a lot to me. I would highly recommend this clinic. On their website, they still recommend having your pet go to a conventional vet as well which I agree with, and I'm so thankful that I not only sought help from a conventional vet but also this holistic clinic. From my experience here, I could see that they offer a balanced and educated approach to medicine all while treating clients on an individual basis with compassion and respect.

Our St Bernard met Dr. Nicole and her staff today. They were very loving, gentle and knowledgeable. Devo has some serious health problems that traditional vets are not able to cure, and we are hoping the acupuncture, adjustments to his spine/neck and Chinese herbs will help him improve. Some of these alternative techniques have helped people for thousands of years (including me and other members of our household), so hoping the same will be true for our pet.

I would not trust any other Animal Dr. in Metro Detroit. From the early onset 6 years ago, she fully supported me with my choices on vaccinations and encouraged our raw organic diet approach for our friend Ajax. Recently he hurt his leg, we were all concerned that he did some major damage. They called me and or texted me every day, even on their days off to check in and gave me guidance up until our appointment today. Cane Corso's are naturally distrustful to the point of almost being antisocial, you have to feel good to even get close to them let alone gain their trust to put fingers into their mouths or manipulated a sore leg. The beauty of this/their approach is that everyone he met today instantly gained his trust by the way that they All Felt. This place is special and trustworthy. Mother Nature's Spirit is alive and well in Troy MI. and Her emissary is Dr. Nicole! Love and Respect!

We like & appreciate Dr. Nicole. Our neighbor a traditional DVM knew we were looking for a holistic approach and recommend this Vet to us. We are very happy with all our pets care and all interactions with Dr. Nicole and her staff.
