How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Parkway Vet

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

These folks really know their stuff. The fact that they're open 7 days a week 10:00 am to 10:00 pm is amazing! Though they don't do emergency care, if you notice there's something wrong with your pet, they can likely see you the same day! They are very knowledgeable and so very kind and thoughtful. When you come in, they have a candle. If it's lit, it means that someone is helping their beloved pet Cross the Rainbow Bridge! So beautiful! I highly recommend them for exotic pet care! They're helping my bearded dragon on her road to recovery! They also let you bring in fecal samples without an appointment! It's super convenient!

We have recently gotten an 11 week old bunny who we noticed had unusually long teeth. I was recommended to this vet and it was a amazing experience. They got us in quickly and when the Doc saw our bunny was a very urgent case they squeezed him for surgery 2 days later. Our bunny brownie is much happier now and doing so great. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond. I will recommend them to everyone!

We had to take our almost 10 yr old German Shepherd girl for a visit on Christmas eve. Unfortunately our vet was open, but booked up. Turns out our girl had a few things wrong with her. She ended up being critically anemic, and the doctor suggested taking her to get a transfusion after we left their office. Not knowing how many transfusions she would need, or if she would even survive the transfusion(s) we ended up making the hard decision to have our girl put to sleep. The staff, including Dr Fortune were absolutely the best!!! They were beyond kind and caring! We did not expect to go to the vet with our girl, and not come home with her. That day I had tried probably 6 or 7 different veterinarian offices, and I knew by my conversation and how the gentleman on the phone answered my questions this was a great choice! When we get our next fur-baby we will be going back to Parkway for all our veterinary needs!!

DO NOT WASTE TIME HERE. I drove over an hour and paid over $300 to see a “small animal specialist” to diagnose my guinea pig. Yet the vet completely missed identifying critical conditions including scurvy and being critically underweight (by at least 600g)…….All I received was prescription for eye injury (which wasn’t even a real issue) and diarrhea. What in the actual heck. Thank God I trusted my gut and went for a second opinion. As a first time guinea pig owner had I relied on the ignorant medical advice of this clinic’s vet, i couldn’t lost my guinea pig………….The new patient fee of $25 in addition to the $85 consultation fee plus $200+ in unnecessary prescription fees was a complete waste of money. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!! They market for gullible and vulnerable pet owners advertising their late hour services, but you’d be best waiting to see other knowledgeable and cheaper vets.

Very clean office. Staff Very knowledgeable and helpful. Since I foster animals and have a few of my own. I've seen a few vet clinics. We bring our 33 year old turtle here, along with our ball python. As far as their experience with reptiles, Very compassionate/ loving care. Recently we brought a cat to get spayed here, and same level care was received, as I expected. And I like how clean the place is, and when you step inside you don't get hit with that strong animal smell. You step inside and it's pleasant
