How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

If I could give zero stars I would, the whole system is terrible. They just steel your money and the customer service is useless. They would not refill my prescription for my dog because she was examined at another Banfield hospital (since we were out of town). While they had access to the results and everything was fine (it was done only three months ago), they want me to take the dog back for another visit before they can give the refill that she needs. Last time at the other Banfield hospital out of town it costed me 400 dollars and it was supposed to be good for 9 months! Horrible place.

Please save yourself the time, energy, and money. The OWP is not worth the headache of dealing with this and any affiliated clinic. I immediately cancelled my plan after one too many instances of appointments being cancelled due to miscommunications on their end. For example, the most recent visit my cat was not seen because they had a new policy of drop-off times being before 11a, however emails and text reminders never stated such a policy (emailed corporate with proof) but regardless of the proof that I was not late and did not miss my appointment time, my pet was not able to be seen that day because the vet refused. Overall, customer service is not their strong suit and the care your pet receives is a negligible difference from other clinics. So do yourself and your pet a favor and find a more suitable clinic.

The phone wait is ridiculous only to be answered by someone with an attitude. I brought my dog in for a teeth cleaning. I went to pick her up and was told that she lost 6 teeth. No one called to inform me of her dental issue before Working on her as they DO at other Banfield hospitals. My dog has been depressed ever since and I had to completely change how and what I feed her. No apologies from them. I cringe every time I have to go there. We are looking for better options and canceling our wellness plan with them.

My fur son, Kevin LOVES his Vet Team and so do I! Everyone is always welcoming and friendly. They call him by name and make him feel like the good boy that he is. Top Tier care and as the pet parent, I feel very much in the know about his health. I would recommend this place to everyone!

0 star. I scheduled an appointment with them and went there at the exact date and time only to find out that they cancelled it and gave the spot to someone else just because i didnt answer a one phone call while I was working earlier in the week. They didnt even leave a voice mail what with all the scam callers around! Absolutely inconvenient
