If I could give them all the stars in the sky I would! Yesterday, my daughter and I had to have our little Beanie (male cat) euthanized. He was dying and was in so much pain. The front desk staff, Vets, and their assistants here are ALL angels. So compassionate and caring. They were with us every step of the way. My daughter is only 6 but very mature for her age and very smart. She actually took a video of one of his seizures so we could show the doctor. Tbh, I had a feeling it was really bad after he had 5 seizures...so I started preparing for the worst and educating my daughter what may come to be at this hospital visit. Beanie was her best friend, her play buddy. ALWAYS TOGETHER THOSE TWO!! They allowed us private time with him and let us stay with him during the process of it all! He was such a fun cat. We will miss him so much and his sweet cuddles. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts guys! He couldn't have been at a better place, so thankful we were referred to you! ❤️

I brought my dog Juniper here for an internal medicine consult in October 2023 after spending months trying to figure out what was wrong with her to no avail. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of weeks, and everyone was so kind. During the consultation, the doctor agreed that she needed a CT scan, and they were able to do it the same day! The IM doctor called while she was in CT, and explained to me the best he could what was going on- she had a piece of her jaw that had fractured causing an abscess! He was very honest in saying that he did not think he could explain to me what needed to be done as well as a surgeon could, so he had a surgeon call me within minutes! The surgeon was very thorough before (i am a veterinary technician so he really broke it down for me) and they were even able to transfer her directly to surgery the same day! I was extremely impressed with Junipers care throughout this scary experience! She went through surgery great, and stayed overnight and through the next day! When i picked her up, the technician was very thorough at explaining the home care, and I was sent on my way with a pup that obviously felt much better! She did great with recovery, and Mass Vet was great when I reached out with a couple questions and medication refills, even calling me to discuss a concern on a Saturday! Juniper is doing wonderful 6 months later, and I could not be anymore grateful! I will continue to recommend Mass Vet to all the clients I see at the GP clinic I work at, and will continue to bring my pets here when/if needed (I drive over 2 hours to get here and always will!) I will be forever grateful for fixing my best girl!!

One star is generous but I can’t give zero. Please bring your pet anywhere else if you want them to stand a chance. It has taken me almost a year to even be able to write this, knowing as I tell this story I will have to relive the most traumatic moments of my life. Last July after being referred by our regular vet we brought our sweet Buzz in for evaluation, he had been suffering from nose bleeds and we were instructed to bring him in to get a CT scan. Aside from the nose bleeds when we brought Buzz in he was (and this is according to the paper work they sent us home with) “bright and energetic” he did not leave that way. We agreed to allow Buzz to stay overnight to get his testing done. As we were waiting to go home O wanted to say goodbye to him. After many minutes of the vets telling us they were very busy outback, they reluctantly walked us to where all of the dogs were being kept. In a cage, receiving no medical attention was Buzz pouring blood from his nose in a crate with a sign that said “aggressive” With not a single person even reacting to the blood pouring out of his nose. Reluctantly I left telling myself an emergency room was the best place for him to be. The next morning we get a call that he “did great at night” and they would be running tests during the day…a few hours later I get another call saying that they didn’t believe they could even do a CT scan on him because they did not believe he would wake up from it. So my question is, why weren’t we told this before letting him stay the night? I was told on the phone basically to come pick him up and keep him comfortable because it was “probably cancer” When we picked him up he was NEVER the same. He was sent home with sedatives, and anti nausea medication for $5000. We would have paid anything to save him, but no CT scan and a few sedatives? Not to mention he home lethargic and unable to walk, and was never the same again. I truly believe whatever happened that evening he slept there cut his life even shorter than it was going to be. How does a dog enter an ER “bright and energetic” according to their records and leave unable to stand on his own? A week later after trying to follow their home instructions we went to get second opinion and it was too late for him. He passed away two weeks from the day we brought him in. This office only cares about the amount of money they will receive from you, I saw the staff with my own eyes sitting around while my dog poured more blood than I’ve ever seen out of his nose, just to keep him over night to tell us the next day they didn’t want to give him a CT scan. I will never forgive myself for bringing Buzz here. I lost my best friend that day. He was 8.5 and I know in my heart if we had just gone elsewhere that day we would have had more time. Please bring your pets any where else for treatment.

After an incredibly stressful 24 hours and visiting three other hospitals, I found myself driving two hours down to Boston, desperately hoping for the best care for my cat, Jazzy. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Austin and her exceptional team, including the wonderful nurse Carrie, provided a level of compassion and kindness that truly exceeded all expectations. Dr. Austin is nothing short of phenomenal. Her intelligence and competence as a veterinarian are evident, but it's her remarkable bedside manner that truly sets her apart. She was incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and genuinely caring towards both Jazzy and myself. Despite the pressure and the complexity of Jazzy's condition, Dr. Austin gave generously of her time, engaging in a thorough discussion about all possible diagnoses. She has an exceptional talent for communication, skillfully walking me through each step of the diagnosis and treatment process, ensuring I had all the information I needed without feeling overwhelmed. It's clear that Dr. Austin and her team at Mass Vet are not just professionals but truly dedicated to their patients' well-being. They have a remarkable ability to make you feel seen and supported during what can be an incredibly difficult time. I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Austin and her team for their exceptional care, understanding, and kindness. They made a challenging situation so much more bearable and provided Jazzy with the best possible care. I came to visit Jazzy and she seemed so happy and comfortable in their hands. I cannot recommend them highly enough. To anyone in need of veterinary care, this hospital is a place where you and your beloved pets are in the safest and most caring hands.

Our experience at Mass Veterinary Referral Hospital was exceptional during a difficult time with our cat, Baby. We were referred to their oncology services after her cancer diagnosis, and from the initial inquiry to follow-up, the staff was consistently kind, compassionate, and professional. Appointment reminders were sent via text and email, along with detailed prep instructions. When I missed the email about fasting our cat, the staff reassured us over the phone, and we were still able to proceed with the appointment. Dr. Vos was an outstanding oncology practitioner. He was empathetic and patient, answering our numerous questions. Unlike previous clinicians who gave vague phone updates, Dr. Vos sat with us to review our cat's X-rays, explaining the severity and progression of her cancer clearly and compassionately. Though we had to say goodbye to Baby shortly after the appointment, Dr. Vos provided the information we needed to understand her condition and discussed treatment options thoroughly. His clear and empathetic explanations were invaluable during this tough decision. The technician, Jenny, was also incredibly kind and compassionate as we shared Baby's symptoms and history. While dealing with cancer in pets is never easy, any patient would be in excellent hands with this team.
