How to Save Money at Artemis Veterinary

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Patti and her wonderful crew were so great with my fearful reactive dog. They came to our home for his wellness visit (a game changer for easing the stress of his medical care!) and their patience, confidence and kindness won him over. They offered me assurances and excellent advice. I’m so happy they opened a brick-and-mortar office in our area and I highly recommend Artemis Veterinary. I hope this small local business is well supported by the community so it can thrive.

Dr. Patti with Artemis Veterinary is AMAZING! My cat Omen needed unexpected surgery to remove some bladder stones and Dr. Patti and her team saved the day! So grateful for Artemis and the care we received while we were there. Thank you Artemis Veterinary for your love and care for animals and your wonderful customer service 💜 I now have a new vet!

Dr. Patti and Rebecca are two of the most compassionate and caring people I’ve ever met. I came across Dr Patti when we had to euthanize our dog over a year ago. Dr Patti and Rebecca came into our home, and I still remember to this day of how kind they were and how they made the such a hard day, a loving memory. When we rescued another dog this year and had to bring her in for an emergency vet visit after being scratched by another dog Dr Patti got us right in and was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend, her prices are reasonable and she will treat your animal like her own. 10/10 ⭐️

Artemis Veterinary made what felt like the worst decision I ever had to make that much more easy. I had no idea where to turn, my case was unique, I had a rescue for over 5 years with serious behavioral problems. I consulted a cat behavioral specialist and explained my situation. I could not surrender my boy because he was extremely unfriendly with everyone, including myself at times. Another cage was not an option. Sadly I made the hard choice of putting him down. I felt absolutely horrible, I couldn't justify behavioral issues as a reason to put a cat down, but it was explained to me that he had a serious case of constant anxiety, causing him to go to the bathroom where he felt deemed, I couldn't live in a home that smelled of cat urine. Upon the arrival of Artemis Veterinary team, Dr. Karen came up my hill with open arms and gave me the biggest hug. She told me I was doing the right thing and that most people wouldn't have put up with his behavior as long as I did. Forgive me for forgetting names of the other staff involved. There was a young gentleman vet tech who put up with my rambling nerves, Dr. Karen - you truly comforted me, and a young woman who helped with sedation of my boy who said nothing but kind words. They came to my home and made the entire experience far less traumatic for my cat than it could have been had I had to take him to an office. These people know what they are doing and have the kindest people! Even reception showed unbelievable sensitivity with everything I was dealing with. 5 stars is a great understatement - Artemis Veterinary is a 10!

what a caring team of Dr Patti and her techs. We have used them for a few years now to come to the house and check up on our furry friends. To get them into a carrier and endure the ride to a vet would have been way tooooooo traumatic for them. But somehow i found Dr Patti and what a goddess send. She and her folks take the time to talk to you, go over results with you, even tell you that your cat is shaped like a pear and needs to lose weight (truth hurts but it's honest). If you are looking for a vet, STOP ... we have ourselves a gem with Artemis Veterinary. And I guarantee you will share our sentiments once you meet them!
