How to Save Money at MedVet Mandeville
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

This facility was 1 1/2 hrs from us, but was recommended by our vet for our fur baby's knee surgery because the surgeons are Board Certified. When I called to schedule appointment, I had questions. Dr. Doyle called me to answer my questions before even making our appointment. They got us in next day for consult & surgery. The facility is clean and reception greeted us upon entering. The surgery coordinator talked to me and then Dr. Doyle came in to examine my pet, go over surgical procedure & explain some of his expertise in this surgery (which helped my anxiety). They called when she was going into the OR. Dr. Doyle called before starting procedure and again after to explain what he had to do. Then a nurse called to give me an update on my baby. I was told I could call at any time throughout the night to check on her & they could send me pictures too. I received a phone call the next morning with another update. When we went to pick her up, they explained discharge instructions & said to call anytime with questions/concerns. They took excellent care of my baby before, during, & after surgery. They called a few days later to see how she was doing at home & to schedule followup visits. It is expensive; however, the staff took excellent care of my baby & Dr. Doyle did great on the surgery! They're also an ER vet, which means 24/7 staff. My baby had a torn ACL & Meniscus repaired. This requires an overnight stay at vet. Most vets don't have overnight care. Thank you Dr. Doyle & staff at MedVet Mandeville!!!💚 ***Picture is at home with her ice pack. Didn't want to show incision, which looks great, as some may not want to see it. ***

The way we were treated was beyond amazing. It felt like not only was Abby (my pet baby) taken care of but they had so much compassion for us as her people. By the time we left we knew everyone by name. They were so kind to us. Abby was very touch and go, and there were multiple times we didn't know if she would make it, but her care team never gave up! They gave her the same exceptional care regardless of her prognosis and they never stopped giving us updates on every single change, good or bad. It was a transformative experience as far as pet care goes and I will forever be grateful to this team for saving her life and for giving us such kind and thoughtful care. The front desk too. They were always ready with a kind word, a compassionate emotional response or a smile. They watched our rollercoaster with Abby's fragile state and always showed us such love and support. Whatever the formula is at MedVet it's perfect. I know it's the people. Compassionate team of doctors, nurses, and staff. I also am incredibly appreciative of how transparent the care is. If I wanted to see her I was always welcome. If I asked for a picture they would send me on. I even heard them hold a phone up for another person's pet so that her mom could talk to her. It was so touching.

I was very blessed to have my cat, Henry, referred to MedVet. Everyone I had interaction with was friendly, positive, and very helpful. Dr. Yates explained everything that was going to be done and the results in language that was easy for a worried cat mom to understand. Henry is in the best hands !

We had to put our childhood cat down and each staff member we met was kind, attentive, and compassionate. They gave us the time we needed to grieve and were very respectful of our wishes. Very grateful for how they handled everything.
