How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Lakeshore Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We have taken our dogs and cats to Lakeshore for approximately 10 years and have always been very happy with the care, staff, administration, and compassion. Dr. Wheeler has always taken the time to do thorough exams and made sure to spend time with us to explain and make sure we understand everything. Their boarding is exceptional and far better than experiences we had elsewhere. I would only recommend Lakeshore to anyone needing veterinary care.

Extremely caring and compassionate staff. Love Dr. Julie Wheeler! She's so affectionate with my fur babies. I used to see her on the Southshore, and am so glad she's now up here on the Northshore, where I live! I wouldn't go to anyone else.

I am so impressed at the level of care & compassion that Lakeshore gives the fosters and adoptees affiliated with Once upon A Tail Rescue. Both organizations fill a vast need in St. Tammany Parish. Many thanks for your hard work 🐾

My husband and I have been using Lakeshore Veterinary Hospital for our three dogs for over three years now. The care, compassion, friendly environment, and positive attitude of each staff member here is unmatched. Just to put this in perspective, we moved over an hour away about two years ago and we still use Lakeshore for our pets’ care and boarding. Not only does Lakeshore deliver veterinary care like no other, but their financial options make it especially easy to get our three pets the services they need without breaking the bank. In particular, I’d like to thank Dr. Wheeler, Renee, and Kayla for providing no less than exceptional experiences for us and our pets. If you’re looking for a veterinary clinic with outstanding knowledge and hospitality, I cannot recommend Lakeshore enough.
