How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Rapides Animal Medical Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

14 year old cat was treated for stomatitis with ANTIBIOTICS instead of an antiviral medication. As a Former vet tech who studied with dr Woodard this is malpractice. $400 later my cats dying at home. I was given vitamins and clindamycin for ulcers in her mouth. Antibiotics do not treat ulcers which are caused by viruses. I trusted in April to cure my cat and she let me down. They will not work with me on helping the cat nor they “call me” to authorize giving her additional shots that clearly didn’t work. Above is an image of my cat NOW in the same condition she was in a week ago when they treated her. The cleaner photo is the day they treated her and bathed her.. the other is one week after treatment still Severely sick.

It was my dogs time and they could not have been any kinder. The Vet and Vet tech both sat on the ground comforting my precious Soph and me. They touched her softly and explained everything they were doing in such a tone that was comforting and relaxing given what was happening. I am and will always be extremely thankful for their kindness there. God bless xo

Very polite people! They will kindly tell me everything i need to know about my dogs health and what i need to do. They dont ridicule if you were doing something wrong or were previously uneducated. My dog is anxious and he loved greeting everyone there. Highly recommend!
