How to Save Money at Eagle Creek Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I would recommend Eagle Creek Animal clinic to everyone that I know. This the experience my Husband and I had the day we were heading out the DAY of our vacation. We thought our dog has ALL of his shots, he was getting boarded the morning we left. My Husband call the day before just to confirm that he was good to get boarded. He needed 2 shots. Eagle creek was able to get him in the morning of our trip. If it wasn’t for the ECAC, we would’ve had to cancel and lose our deposit. They REALLY care about your animals. We had a Chinese Shar Pei that we had to put down, they sent condolences because he was also a patient of theirs. I HIGHLY recommend this lovely clinic. The Staff are like Family to us and always make you feel welcome and that your animal is in GREAT HANDS! We love them & appreciative of all they have done for us for over 10 years!! 🥰 Kind Regards, Stacy & Joe C

Sabrina (Brie) was at the clinic to be spayed and was treated like royalty. Everyone made over our sweet baby and the onesie we provided so she could not lick at her incision. I only wish they could have come home with us to help keep her calm & quiet for 2 weeks! I'm certain she will be happy to come back to see them anytime!

We have been with Eagle creek for many years and they have stood with us through our joys and our heartaches of being a pet owner. Even though our move took us an hour away we stayed with Eagle creek. Dr. Allen has our heart and we trust her fully with our French bulldogs. Her staff from techs to front desk are all amazing and caring people.

I really like Eagle Creek Animal Hospital. They are very cordial and thorough with my little dog. Dr Allen is a great vet. She is thorough and easy to talk to. I really feel confident taking my little dog to her.

They are extremely expensive and try to make you pay for treatments that aren’t needed . After moving I wanted to find a vet for my dog, whose floppy ears are prone to infection . They saw my dog and did their cytology and prescribed medication . They wouldn’t pull the ear hair even tho I told them that that was what has helped in the past . First visit was 250$ (more bc they also gave us the heart guard shot - which I wasn’t there for but agreed to). The doctor wanted to recheck the ears in 2 weeks . I didn’t realize this was going to be charged as a full exam fee of 70$ plus- just for her to check an ear that she hadn’t treated properly - they said the medicine that they had given me didn’t work and they wanted to retest the ear , give my dog a new antibiotic, a steroid, and a monoclonal antibody . They tell you the price in the room which for the follow up visit would be 250$. And when I said that that price was ridiculous and Dr Wright told me “if you don’t want me to treat your dog I won’t “ - that’s a terrible response- obviously I don’t want my dog to continue with an ear infection but all in 500$ for an ear infection seems unreasonable . I asked for them to give my dog the ear medicine that has always worked in the past - paid 157$ and won’t be returning . The vet had very little care for talking to the owner (me) and tried to make me feel bad when I stopped what she wanted to do - which was unnecessary. Further the prices are set by a corporation I was told and couldn’t be changed - so these people take up the bill on you and you will have no say about it .
