How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Stellhorn Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I love this office. They are so friendly, knowledge, and helpful. They were excellent with end of life care for our first dog. Unfortunately our second dog had heartworm and they did an excellent job with treatment. The vet called us at 8: 00pm and talked to us for 45 minutes and answered all our questions about the treatment plan. I will always take my fur babies there and highly recommend.

I don't know how many stars to give. On the one hand, they kept my Shih Tzu alive longer and they were gentle with myself and my family as they told us everything and explained everything (and they were gentle with my dog too.) However, it was extremely unprofessional of the doctor who was working that night (September 5, 2022 from 1am-6am) who never at any point spoke to me or my family on behalf of Sasha. He kept us waiting in suspense, scared for our dog's life, unsure of what to expect, that ENTIRE time without greeting us once. We were told everything by the wonderful assistant named Ava. Ava was wonderful and gentle with our beloved pet. Ava was consoling us as we said our final goodbye to our almost-12-year-old Shih Tzu. Ava also had the morning shift doctor (who was wonderful) make us the top priority since the heartless over-night doctor didn't have the human decency to do so much as to tell us how our dog was doing. Ava is wonderful, the morning doctor was wonderful (I didn't catch the doctor's name.) The overnight doctor didn't have the human decency to speak to us the entire eight hours we sat and waited.
