How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Epperson Veterinary Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Facility Tour

If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

On two occasions, Epperson's has charged me for medicine or procedures without getting my okay. When I found this out, I was irritated and was told that they would not credit my bill due to health laws. I am looking for a new vet due to receiving poor communications and service from this office.

I had given them a great review before, but now it needs to be edited. I took my cat here and thought they were doing what they could to save his life. We took him there with an issue (Jan of 22) and they treated him with prescribed cat food, he was doing great, so we thought. 8 months later he is dying and we take him back thinking they will do everything they can, and three days later, we had to put him to sleep. We felt as though they were keeping him alive to keep the bill going up and up. We do not trust this place any more. We have lost all faith in people who are supposed to be trained and educated to help us take care of our pets. THEY ARE NOT JUST ANIMALS. THEY ARE OUR FAMILY!

Everyone was nice and caring when I went with my dog. The Dr was very knowledgeable and the tech was good to my sweet baby. I do believe we will continue care with this office with our dogs. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is when my husband took her back for a shot he was not allowed in with her and we were not crazy about that.

Very kind and helpful staff. They helped us with the passing of our dog in April. Now we have a new pup and wouldn’t go anywhere else. It’s a bit of a drive from where I live, but the staff is so loving towards furry friends it is totally worth the extra drive for myself.

Review unfortunately needs to be edited- place of business has went downhill. My pet was supposed to get a teeth cleaning last summer and I cancelled the appt bc I didn’t feel comfortable due to the constant attitude from reception. When I took him to Banfield Vet they found he had a heart murmur and is unable to go under anesthesia. Epperson didn’t check for any such condition. This vet is not thorough and they’re rarely open anymore. The workers have been SO rude during ALL my visits. When you’re scared for your pet it’s nice to have people who are kind, understanding and more professional. Instead, they make you feel annoying for asking questions, like it’s not their job and as if it is an inconvenience. We are now using Highland Vet and they’re wonderful
