How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Companion Vernon Hills
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Our guinea pig was sick and they are one of the few vets that will treat guinea pigs close to us. Everyone there is very friendly. The vet took her time with our guinea pig and explained everything that was going on and was also very patient with us. If he needs any further treatment we will be going back to them.

Dr. Erica Morton is an amazing small mammal vet. My Guinea pig hasn’t been acting himself and she was so through with his exam and you can tell she truly cares about these small animals. Will definitely be returning with my other piggy also for a regular exam

I would not advise you to take your pet here and heres why: if you have pocket pets like rabbits or Guinea pigs, all they do is print handouts from Chicago Exotics, briefly examine your pet, then send you home and charge you $100; a couple years ago, Dr. Moron didn’t know the difference between a patella and an ACL tear and screwed me over insurance wise; lastly, that same vet also gave another one of my dogs rabies vaccine while under rabies observation AND my dog had 2 more years left on its previous vaccine. You make your own judgement. On top of all this, a simple nail trim is $60. That’s robbery. There are cheaper clinics than this one that offer exceptional care. This clinic claims to practice gold standard medicine, but you can see from my experience that that is far from the truth. Response to owner: The pets were under my wife’s name. And the deed is already done. There is something else to talk about. We’ve already switched vets and a nail trim at this place is ONLY $20!! You and I both well know your pocket pet exams aren’t thorough. Karma will come creeping in. You are robbing the kind-hearted pet owners of Vernon hills and it’s surrounding neighborhoods.

I cannot thank Companion and Dr. Koza enough. My Chihuahua is not a client at this hospital (my regular vet is 45 min away) but, at the last minute, one half hour before closing, Dr. Koza agreed to see Gretchen for a serious eye problem. She did an excellent exam as well as consulted an ophthalmologist. Dr. Koza could have just told us to go to an ER but she did not. Highly recommend these ultra nice people!!!!

Our bunny had a constant runny nose and was sneezing. Our regular vet suggested we needed a “specialist” to care for him. He was seen during the height of the pandemic and they came out to the car to get him and bring him back. He was seen immediately, and the vet, herself called me on my phone while we were still in the parking lot, to give me his diagnosis. Who knew bunnies could have allergies? He’s 8 years old and doing great! P.S. You can tell by the picture that he’s not spoiled - at all. LOL!
