College student here. Grew up with my sweet girl most of my life. Was directed by my primary veterinarian to go to the U of I for a potential foreign object removal and diabetic issue. I almost instantly knew what the outcome of this visit would be. Even keeping her on fluids and treating her diabetes for 2-3 days ran from $3,000-$5,000 (just the starting range) which is more than it cost for surgery and hospitalization for a week at SportsVet in Savoy. Unfortunately, they no longer have urgent care. The “payment due at time of service” is ultimately what tied our hands in the decision to choose euthanasia. My family runs a small business and I, again, am a college student. They had great staff and gave great care and I know they have hospital to run, but the payment at time of service is extremely disheartening and heartbreaking. Being located in a college town full of students, you would expect a little leniency, credit plans, or other financial options being offered. If there had been, I know there would have been a different outcome for my best friend. I really appreciate the care that was given, but if you’re in a tough financial spot or a student, I would advise you to look elsewhere for treatment.

Do Not Bring Your Pet Here!! They will hold your beloved pet hostage! We drove 1.5 hours to have an invasive procedure done and after 5 hours of waiting for any actual vet to even look at an X-ray I asked to have my dog released back to my care so I could take him to his vet for any surgical procedures that he may need; since it would be to late for an endoscopy to be done to remove the foreign object by now. While sitting in the waiting room it had become apparent that this place is all about money and not the care of your pet. After demanding my dog back they finally had a vet talk with me and during the 5 hours they had him hostage they didn’t even do an X-ray or anything on him.

This clinic was not professional at all. The women at the front desk were making comments and smirking about how I was reacting to my cat having seizures. When we went to say goodbye to her they assured us she wouldn’t be in pain, she ended up having three seizures within those 30 minutes and when we tried to let someone know they didn’t come in until 10 minutes later and by then she passed.

We had an emergency with our dog. Our vet recommended the we take him to U of I. He had to stay four days for testing and underwent a blood transfusion. The staff were knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. Although he was diagnosed with a terminal disease we have him home with us and for the time he's doing well.

The doctors and staff could not have been more caring and concerned about about our Shih Tzu Max and us. They understand our fur babies are not just pets but family. I can not thank them enough for the wonderful care Max received.
