How to Save Money at Animal Hospital of Randall Plaza

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Scam artists. Every time we have brought our dog in for routine vaccines we were charged at least $300 plus. We just brought our dog in to get his vaccines done July 20th. We requested a flue shot. Today when leaving to go out of town found out they didn’t do one. (We had to email them to get the records because they didn’t send them like a normal vet would.) and when the pet suite reviewed the record no flu vaccine!!!! We went back in to get it done and they not only charged more than average cost for the flu vaccine but also another clinic visit!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! The pet suite people were even appalled. Scam scam scam scam scam. A good business would have recognized THEIR mistake and waved the overly excessive charges. It literally took one minute. Delayed our vacation. Do not go here you will be out hundreds every visit. When I called to complain about the disruption to our trip I was told I could have checked the invoice, again I DIDN’T get one because “their printers were down!”

We took my cat there first with a coupon we received in the mail. It was fine but after giving my cat her shots, the vet said she was anxious. Of course she was, you just gave her a couple shots. We took our puppy a couple months later for his first rabies shot. He was 4 months old. The vet proceeded to tell us he was too hyper and we needed to put him in training. Again, of course he is. He's a puppy, he's hyper. When we go to check out, we had another coupon that didn't expire until July, over a month away. At check out the lady said they no longer honor them. The coupon wasn't expired. We didn't complain, we left and decided we would find another bet. I wasn't a fan and I will not be going back. The vet wasn't very nice so I'm happy to find somewhere else.

I decided to save some time for commute cause my usual vet is 40 min away and I brought my dog for a vaccination appointment. He was feeling and walking well before visit. At the end of appointment when he was walked out of the back room!!! by one of your technicians my dog was limping on his right hind leg. I asked why and the tech said it might be because of shot done in the leg. Later the same day he could not even lean on that leg anymore. Next day in the morning I called this hospital and scheduled another appointment to check him since he was still limping. When we came Dr Sajid Hamid didn’t diagnose my dog properly, I guess he didn’t was to take responsibility for what happened. At first he said his patella was dislocated, later he mentioned that my dog might had a sore muscle after a vaccine injection. He just gave some medication for pain and said to come back in ten days if his condition is not improving to get him tranquilized in order to make a diagnosis(WHY tranquilize!!!) I was still worrying about my pet so I went to see the vet we usually go to. After a few minutes of thorough exam(without ANY sedation)the vet was able to diagnose him with full tear of cranial cruciate ligament which requires SURGERY to be fixed( about $1500 at least). I can’t even imagine how they treat animals there. I emailed this hospital to see if they can help out with medical bills, 2 weeks passed but I haven’t heard from them. So I would say you should stay away from this hospital for sake of your pet!
