How to Save Money at Millbrook Animal Care Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had the same vet for more than 30 years. It has been a struggle to find a good place for my sweet George, especially since I’ve moved so far away from my previous home. The search is over!!! We have found our new vet and could not be happier! It started with the very efficient website for not only scheduling but also the ease of getting the previous records. Then the reminders! In this day and age of crazy busy… much appreciated. Next…it’s time for the appt. Where do I start?!! The place is spotless, the front desk staff is incredibly friendly and kind, the tech couldn’t be sweeter, the room…. So clean and fresh smelling! Then…. The doctor! Wow! Dr. David Kaufman had great reviews on line. That was a plus for me in looking for a new vet for my sweet George. However, many of the reviews were regarding dogs. I was curious to see how he was with a cat. Well, here I am, a woman of many words and I’m struggling to find the right ones to say how terrific Dr. Kaufman is! He was informative, kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, amazing with cats (he has 3 of his own so that made me so happy!). He never made me feel rushed. He took his time to explain everything. He is also very conservative. I did not feel like he was pushing anything in regards to treatments or medication. He is honest, full of integrity and is a great find! So happy I decided to try this Clinic after seeing it on my hundreds of trips up and down Randall Road! I told him before I left he is “stuck with us!” So pleased with my experience. Oh wait! Then there was the check out… again, super sweet front desk staff… but the prices! SO reasonable! I am beyond happy with my experience here! I would recommend this place to anyone with any kind of pet! You will not be disappointed! I am posting a few pictures so you can see just how happy and at ease George was for this visit. We are very satisfied customers! :)

Me, my husband, and our dog recently moved to the area and we were lucky enough to find this vet clinic. My dog, Lenny, is in LOVE with Dr. Jill! Out of all the vets we've had and all the clinics we've taken him to, Millbrook is the most friendly and skilled. Their exams are incredibly thorough and we were able to diagnose my baby with some lifelong issues that were overlooked by other vets. Now he's on the correct medications to help with his arthritis and seasonal allergies. They also offer grooming services and they made my Lenny soft and fluffy!! LOVE MILLBROOK!

My 9 yr old Harley had this huge tumor hanging from his hind leg. He has early kidney disease & considered a senior so putting him under is a big risk. I went to 3 other vets before Millbrook. Good experiences, but just never felt comfortable enough to trust my baby's life under General Anesthesia with them. A co-worker recommended Millbrook. From the first visit with Dr. Brittany I felt at ease that this was the right place. Their staff were so informative and caring. They went above and beyond taking every precaution with many tests before moving forward with the surgery. As scared as I was to agree, I knew he was in the best hands with Dr. Christine. Everything went great! Harley did great and the monster tumor is gone. 3 days later he is running around again happy as can be:-) Thank you so much to the entire staff and DR's! Our pets are our children and I highly recommend Millbrook!!!!!!

The team at Millbrook all work together so well. The doctors were very knowledgeable answering all my questions. They keep me informed as the surgery progresses. I feel comfortable leaving my dog in their care. The technicians are always friendly and show great concern for my dog too.

The 😫😭saddest thing to do is having to say goodbye to your best friend and companion. Most difficult thing in the world. I had the privilege of adopting 2 dogs 15 years ago. Unfortunately, one crossed the rainbow bridge at my regular vet and it was a horrific experience, on a metal table, scared and uncomfortable. A friend told me about Millbrook. They have a large "Living Room" area, with a large sofa, chair, lamps with a large dog bed on the floor. My beautiful dog was very comfortable and relaxed and the staff and Dr. Was amazing. For what we had to do, I feel that it was the best scenario that could have been for end of life, it was a very peaceful transition.
