How to Save Money at Partners Animal Hospital West Loop
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We brought our new puppy Kai in for his first visit and had the best experience at Partners Animal Hospital West Loop. Dr. Hernandez and his nurse Estephanie were incredibly kind, gentle, and patient with him. As a new puppy parent I had a lot of questions, and they took their time explaining everything clearly and making sure I felt comfortable. They handled his vaccines and first flea treatment so calmly that he barely reacted. You can tell they truly care about animals, not just medically but emotionally too. The visit felt welcoming and reassuring, not stressful. Thank you for making his first vet visit such a positive experience. We’re really happy we found our vet!

I’ve had such a positive experience with Partners Animal Hospital and can’t say enough good things about the care they’ve given my cat, Stella. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind to her. Stella is very vocal and anxious in new environments, and they immediately met her with patience and affection, which made a big difference. The clinic itself was clean, calm, and well-organized, and we were brought back to a private exam room where Stella was able to explore and relax a bit. The team was thorough without being overwhelming. What started as a visit for a small ear irritation and updated vaccine paperwork turned into a thoughtful, comprehensive checkup. The vet and staff took time to explain everything clearly, treated Stella gently throughout her treatment, and made sure I understood all options without any pressure. At a follow-up visit, they checked her healing, completed her vaccines, and walked me through longer-term care recommendations in a way that felt educational and supportive, not sales-driven. I especially appreciated how transparent they were about timelines, costs, and alternatives, and how respectful they were of my comfort level and Stella’s temperament. Most importantly, it was clear that everyone genuinely cared about Stella as an individual. Seeing how calm and well-handled she was throughout the visits meant a lot to me. I’m really grateful to have found a veterinary practice that combines professionalism, compassion, and clear communication. We’ll absolutely be continuing her care here and scheduling her recommended dental cleaning when the time is right.

Our old vet in Lakeview didn’t take our concern about a small bump on our pup’s back seriously, which finally pushed me to look for a new vet after three years of living in West Town. After reading so many great reviews, we decided to try Partners and I’m so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so kind and welcoming. The doctor was thorough, clear, and made sure we understood everything. We left feeling completely reassured. They even had a personalized welcome sign and sent us home with a cute goodie bag! The front desk team was just as lovely, so friendly and helpful. The whole experience was a total game changer. They even have a free parking lot, which is a huge plus. My only wish is that they offered an evening or weekend option, but I’ll still be recommending Partners to everyone I know. This is exactly how a vet visit should feel!

My dog, Marnie, absolutely adores the staff at Partners. She leaves with treats and goodies after every visit - it’s super, super friendly to new pet owners like me. Great service and extremely helpful if you have a lot of questions! I live in the area so I sometimes swing by on friendly visits, which is encouraged by staff. Always great to take my dog to a vet that she trusts.

Had the most wonderful experience at Partners Animal Hospital. I’m new to the west loop area and finding a new vet can be so stressful. From the moment I called to make an appointment to actually getting there, the staff was welcoming and reassuring! Dr. Hurley and his assistant were genuinely kind, compassionate, and thorough. I knew my pet was in good hands from beginning to end! If you’re new to the area or looking for a new vet, I recommend Dr. Hurley and his team!
