How to Save Money at GoodVets Streeterville
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Wow!! Thank you so much to The GoodVets Streeterville location for going above and beyond for me and my fur baby! All of the techs there are so amazing and friendly! The doctors on site are phenomenal and genuinely caring! From the second I walked into their office, I knew this would be the only Vet I’d ever go to!! Laura and Sam were the most amazing, friendly, and loving people and they really helped me and my baby girl Korra feel right at home! Thank you for everything GoodVets Streeterville

I had several issues with this location (the one in west loop is great). They changed my appointment time without telling me, and offering no appointment times close to what I had. I went in for an international health certificate, and when I went to pick it up, they handed me an envelope ensuring the health certificate was in it, and it was a completely different document. That would’ve seriously messed up our travels. The vet was great, but the ones doing administrative work are beyond frustrating.

I cannot say enough good things about the GoodVets in Streeterville! From the moment we walked in, the entire team was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive to my dog, Piper. Josh, in particular, went above and beyond to make sure Piper was comfortable and well cared for. His kindness, patience, and expertise truly made all the difference. It’s clear that everyone here genuinely cares about the animals they treat, and I feel completely confident that Piper was in the best hands. If you’re looking for a vet that treats your pet like family in Chicago, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

I took my dog in for a case of happy tail. As a new dog mom, I wasn't sure what to expect or do, but I heard about GoodVets through social media, so I said I'd try them out. I took her, and I was greeted warmly by the lady at the front desk. They checked her out and told me what was going on. Again, being a first-time dog mom, I did some research of my own, and I suggested to them docking the tail, considering how bad it had gotten. They assured me that her tail wouldn't need to be docked and that it would get better with medication. So I paid the over $200= bill with the hopes that what I was told was going to happen and my baby would be herself again. I trusted them because they are the professionals, not me. I was giving the medicine like I was told, but her tail never got better. I called to tell them what I was seeing, and I even sent pictures. They wanted me to come in and give her more medication and do blood work. I went and got a second opinion because talking to them put a bad feeling in my stomach. I sent the same images to other places so I could compare, and they all said the same thing:" The tail needs to be docked, it is badly infected". I went ahead and changed her to another doctor. One day, they called me wanting to check in on her and get her scheduled for another appointment, to which I said no. I told them that I took her somewhere else because they couldn't provide me with what I needed, and the lady I was talking to had a bit of an attitude when I told her that I wouldn't be bringing my baby back to them ever again. The whole experience felt like a money thing instead of making sure that my baby was properly taken care of, and that she was no longer in any pain, and getting to the root of the problem.
