How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Prairie View Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

The staff is wonderful and caring. They love my dogs and are always so delighted to see them, even my uncooperative one. They are very responsive and willing to take the time I may need for something in person, on the phone or text. I really appreciate that. I highly recommend them for you pets!

We honestly initially picked this vet because it was the closest to where we live and it had great reviews. I am now writing a review myself because about a year later we adore this vet! The whole staff is super kind & we feel like Dr. Warrick truly loves our little Piper. Our pup unfortunately had an emergency situation recently and PVAH took the time to follow up and make sure she was doing great. We now live about 30 minutes away from their office but we make the drive and will continue to make the drive because we love this vet office. We couldn’t recommend them more for all your fur babies needs.

Dr. Kauffman was amazing! Her and her staff did a great job making my very anxious dog as comfortable as possible during her annual check up. I highly recommend this group.
