How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Good Karma Spay and Neuter Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Facility Tour

If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

Great people. Always working for the right cause! We had so many kitties showing up pregnant at our place, that we would not be able to afford to spay or neuter them, but thanks to Good Karma we managed and continue doing it!! A big Mahalo ! Always

I had my boxer neutered through Good Karma. They were amazing with my boi! They have helped improve the lives of our animals while easing the burden of over populating. If it is possible to donate, PLEASE DO SO!

I’m so thankful to the staff at Good Karma!! They were so good with our Frenchie, Bulgogi. They even clipped his nails for us while he was under for his neuter!!! I was a little nervous at first about wether or not they were experienced with brachycephalic dog breeds, but they assured me that they have had lots of these patients and are even Frenchie owners themselves. They put my mind at ease and our pup is doing very well after his procedure.

The drop off process was quick and easy. We brought our car in his carrier, filled out a couple forms, confirmed what we wanted for him, and confirmed pick up time. Pick up was simple and easy. I told the tech the name of my cat and she went to check up on the status and cost for everything. I gave her my card and she came back with my cat, microchip paperwork and card. I was hoping he would be loopier from the meds but he was still just as big a menace as when I dropped him off. I was really hoping but oh well. He’s healed well even though he didn’t stop running amuck in the house at all. Great care, great work. I got an appointment fairly quickly, I was worried he wasn’t going to be the right weight by his appointment but it was far enough out that he was good to go. The process to get an appointment was easy and we heard back from the clinic within a couple days with an appointment date and instructions. Prices are reasonable and much more affordable than the vet. Highly recommend going through Good Karma and donating if you can so our community can get these services for their pets and help control pet overpopulation on Hawaii Island.

These wonderful people are doing great work for the community. They finally have online registry and you’re able to register your pet to get spayed/neutered. I was able to take a dog 50+ lbs and they took such good care of him. Provided him with pain meds, a prescription of flee and tick for a month. Waiting for a slot to open for my dog. I would recommend to take your pet in a crate if you don’t have a crate, they can help provide. Please consider to donate to the cause! These people are dedicating their time to helping the community and the overpopulation of animals on the island.
