How to Save Money at Baytree Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We recently adopted two puppies from a shelter. I called Baytree about some concerns I had about our pups. They got us in the next day! They were super helpful and informative. When we got there, everyone was super kind. They were great with our pups and telling us what we needed to do to help them. Our pups had kennel cough, intestinal parasites, and fleas. I just knew we were about to spend $500 plus but we did not! It was $250 for their first round of shots and all their meds. We have a reservation next week for boarding. I know they will do amazing.

I’ve been taking my dogs to Baytree Animal Hospital for maybe 20 years. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for an outstanding Veterinary Service to only trust the care & welfare of your pets to the unrivaled professionalism of the Doctors & staff of Baytree Animal Hospital. Pricing is outstanding & fair. Walk-in service is available, recommend you call first. Baytree Animal Hospital will always be # 1 in my book. I’ve only dealt with Doctors Knight & Creamer in my 20 years of taking my dogs to Baytree. I couldn’t put trust & care of my pets in any other Veterinary service. Go to Baytree Animal Hospital for all your pets needs & concerns. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Great vet not great for boarding! 2nd time they have forgotten to feed my dog.. he’s a Lab and they have told me the same story every-time they have forgotten..first time he didn’t eat for 1 day second time he didn’t eat for 2 days ridiculous. Feeding instructions were very clear this is after reminding them before dropping him off about the last time they didn’t feed him. We send him with the correct amount of food in bags for the correct amount of days. Absolutely no reason why there should be extra bags of food given back to me. My lab is a garbage disposal and they are telling me he didn’t finish his food. 😂 These guys are hilarious seriously. Also his bath this time around he clearly didn’t get the brush he needed and good cleaning usually they do good but seemed like a pretty half service. Another experience we’ve had was with my mother in laws Yorkie, we were told they’d call us with updates on her and let us know if anything was going on when they did call they told us everything was great. When we picked her up is when they decided to tell us she wasn’t eating and that they needed to give her an Iv she was very sick and looked like she was not going to make it. Something they should’ve told us when they called for an update yet nothing was mentioned.

I really appreciate all the vets here, Dr creamer has seen my various pets for years and always been loving to them and listening to me. The new vet associates are also terrific with my babies and me. The office staff is great, patient and do their best with a busy office. Over the years I've lost a couple of pets in death and Dr creamer was very sympathetic and handled the arrangement for me. I also rescue animals at times, they are super attentive to these and up front about required care. Thank you Dr creamer and everyone else from me and my babies.

Both times we have visited, the veterinarians were very kind and explained in detail my dog’s condition and care that he needs. I also had a positive experience with the front desk. Customer service is so important as well. I felt comfortable here and will continue to come back.
