How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Longleaf Veterinary Associates

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We took our dog Cimba to Longleaf Veterinary Associates, and I can honestly say this was one of the best veterinary experiences we’ve ever had! The clinic is brand new, spotless, and smells amazing — it doesn’t even have that typical “vet office” smell. Everyone there was super friendly, patient, and kind. They immediately accommodated us since my dog doesn’t do well around other dogs and got us into a room right away. They even fit us in last minute, and the doctor was extremely caring — most vets won’t even see a pitbull, but they treated Cimba with so much love and respect. The prices were very reasonable, and I never once felt like they were trying to upsell unnecessary treatments. If I could give this place a million stars, I would. Amazing staff, great doctor, and a welcoming atmosphere. We travel full-time, but we both said if Cimba ever needs another vet visit, we’d make the trip back here — that’s how impressed we were!

I could not ask for better care for my two dogs. Compassionately caring and professional is a great way to describe the entire practice. I chose to leave another Thomasville practice after over 35 years because of their harsh handling of one of my dogs. So glad I changed!

The death of our Siamese was dealt with so much understanding & kindness, we will never be able to say enough great things about these good folks. They were compassionate, staying late to see us through a very miserable experience. Dr. Barrett was excellent, knowledgable & very kind. This practice is the all around Best I've found in my 50 years of using a vet clinic. I had heard it was an excellent clinic from a friend & I'm grateful I took her advice. Dr. Barrett & his staff understood our grief. We couldn't been in better hands. Thank You, All! We will see you guys in the future as you take care our other cat!!

I have been using Dr. Jay Barrett for my Molly and Chopper. He is very thorough. His entire staff is so wonderful. I will never use anyone else. Dr. Barrett (his wife) is also a vetanarian, she has seen my babies and is just as thorough. He has literally saved my Chopper. I can't thank the entire staff enough.

I can't express enough gratitude to the team at Longleaf Vet. Thank you for loving my boy and taking such good care of him. If not for you he wouldn't be here. I am forever grateful for your generosity and hospitality. I cannot imagine how hard your job is, but I witnessed first hand how rewarding it can be. You help save lives and keep families whole. Thank you Dr. Barrett, Heather, Jennifer and the rest of this amazing team who selflessly put my baby first and cared for him with an abundance of love and compassion. I'm forever indebted to you ❤️🙏
