How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Really great experience at this Banfield. The facility is clean, staff is professional & friendly. They take good care of your fur baby. Dr calls to give you an update while in their care & they call the next day to make sure all is well. Highly recommend.

This was the second time we brought our 1.5 year old Rottweiler in for vaccinations. They were unable to give them either time because they’re afraid of him. I offered to hold him while they did it, but they said he’d probably bite me 🙄. They said we'd have to give him a double dose of Tramadol to basically make him sleep, and bring him in a third time. We’re not doing that. This was the first time I was denied being with any of my dogs during their checkup. A veterinarian who’s afraid of large dogs is the most ridiculous thing ever! It’s like being a pilot when you’re afraid of flying. During the 12 years of us using this location, we’ve dealt with about 20 different doctors due to turnover. They work there to gain experience “practicing” on our pets until they can get a better job or open their own clinic. It’s basically the Great Clips of pet care. We will not be returning to Banfield ever!

They are very professional, and they have treated my dog my baby so sweetly. They have helped guide me through caring for her and making sure she is healthy and happy.

Very unprofessional. They were looking for a reason so they didn’t have to spay my puppy that day. None of their concerns were brought up when I made the appointment or when they called to confirm, but then refused to continue with surgery when I arrived for the appointment. They wasted my time— I drove an hour to be seen at this location. Also, they don’t know much about specific breeds and won’t listen to the owner when they say something is normal for their pet (issues other vets have cleared). If you have a dog that has specific breed issues, do not visit this location. The vet acted like she had never seen or heard a brachycephalic breed before.

My first time. Received a certificate that I used for free visit. They are really kind and supportive. Enjoy!
