How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Gateway Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

They very clearly want to take care of all the animals that they see here! They don’t sugarcoat anything, but they also go out of their way to communicate if anything turns for the worst. They know us and our dog by name. I trust them with my senior dog and they’re yet to disappoint.

This place decided to create new charges to tack onto people's bills. I took my baby to get his teeth cleaned in September 2022. I called today for a quote for another teeth cleaning and they added a "daycare fee" of $9.50. When I asked why it wasn't on my previous invoice, they replied, "new year, new policy ma'am". They made my choice very easy. I'll be taking my baby to Cataula Vet from here on out. Better prices, friendlier staff, and you don't have to wait in the parking lot the entire time. You can actually go inside.

Excellent. Doctor came outside to greet and give guidance. Techs are very friendly. I've been using this Vet for many many years. Recommend.

Gateway has been amazing. They managed to work both of our emergency pups in the same day and the level of professionalism and obvious care was leaps and bounds above any other vet I have seen. You can tell everyone there truly cares about what they do. The staff are the most amazing and kind hearted people and Dr Jones went out of his way to keep us informed, and do what he could for our pups. Lisa gave us great advice on any future pets. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lisa is an angel she is so sweet and gave me updates on my little puppy as much as I needed. She even came in on her off time on the weekend to make sure they got the proper care they needed! The Vet is also a very nice man and very helpful
