How to Save Money at Bainbridge Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Everyone was very kind and helpful. I was a new to this facility. I needed to have my 4 month old kitten seen immediately as she was I'll. They got me in within the hour, she was seen and diagnosed,She was sent home after receiving a antibiotic shot and pain shot and 3 days of pain meds. She was back to normal by evening. Just had her spayed the other day and she is doing well. Great staff all around. Thank you from Sydney

They prescribed my dog a controlled substance that can’t be stopped cold turkey or shouldn’t be. I called today and they have refused service so I found another Vet . Last time I was there they tried to draw my dog’s blood in the lobby. Why have exam rooms? The Cairo practice manager is very rude and her daughter is employed there and should be a conflict of interest. She thinks it’s appropriate to share a post that she often whispers in the ears of pet parents that “your owner is an idiot”. Delete it I have the screenshots. This vet is owned by AVG (American Vet Group ) in Tampa Florida. I’ve called for over a month and no results. It’s all about money. They refused services but continue to solicit my email. I will be filing complaints with veterinarian board. Absolutely do not recommend this place. I spent hundreds at another vet today. Run from this place (based on my experiences) Their employees have time to post on Facebook when they should be working and insist on doing their procedures out of pet parent’s presence.

They are always very nice and welcoming when you bring your pets in for a visit, I just have so many that I wish they’d do house calls for their normal well checks shots and wormers. we’ve rescued most of them and I nor Becky have the heart to let them Go. well it’s more me then it is her. We just can’t find it in our hearts, when you saved the poor guys from bad situations or after they’ve been abandoned by the only place ever no one loved. It’s just impossible to take all 12 at once to them , it’s also hard to remember must less find the time to take 12 dogs at different times and days to get routine stuff. It will just make life so much easier and simpler because many of the dogs have anxiety, severe anxiety do not leave in the house much less getting a vehicle. So it be awesome if we could have someone come to us every couple times a year to do shots worming and nail clipping. But not charge a huge house call fee and it be even better if we got a small discount since we are basically a small rescue, we just don’t ask for donations and we’ve yet to rehome one since I can’t seem to let them go.

Awesome service, our kitten wasn't acting right. We called them and they said bring her in right away. We had never been there before but they treated us like old friends and fixed our kitten up good as new.
