How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Petwell Veterinary Healthcare

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

I had to come to Petwell since my primary vet was fully booked. Dr. Berger is condescending and rude. I was charged for a fecal test I didn't ask for and when I asked him to remove it, he made a big deal about it. One of the medications my cat was prescribed cost almost $75 at Petwell but when I looked it up online later it was only $11!! I spent $400 here and almost spent $500 if I didn't notice I was charged for the fecal test. Don't come here unless you want to be overcharged and treated rudely.

So glad we found this place! Staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and organized. Very clean and cozy rooms as well. We were nervous about getting our cat spayed and they went out of their way to make us comfortable and gave us a really cute personalized binder with pre surgery test results, what to expect, and a take home goodie. Awesome experience!

PetWell has taken such good care of our golden, Dansby! They were extremely helpful in an emergency situation, but also in the day to day regular appointments. We are grateful for their care!

My Great Dane has been visiting Dr. Berger and his wonderful staff since she was a tiny puppy and every visit here has been wonderful. The staff and Dr. Berger have a special gift in really paying attention to my dog and me. It's pretty nice feeling like you are the most important person in their life at that moment and nothing will distract that. That level of attention is rare to come by, and is much appreciated. I know sometimes appointments can run long, and you may be waiting in a room for them, but if you think about it, they're giving the same attention that you'll be receiving to someone else at that moment. Be patient and you will be rewarded with their care. Dr. Berger has always been very open and honest with me when it comes to my dog, and explains what is going on, and is willing to take the time with you to go over the details. I really like that I feel like I am part of a process and treated like a concerned pet parent, rather than another patient to finish up with before going to the next. Their transparency about fees/costs is also helpful as well. I really can't recommend them enough. Even though I don't live/work that close anymore, it's just worth the time/effort to keep visiting them as I don't know where else I would get this level of service. Thanks Dr. Berger and everyone at PetWell!

I started taking my dog here in August of 2021. Since then, we've had average to below average experiences here. The male vet can be condescending and sometimes rude. There seems to be a lack of transparency. We've since moved to a new clinic and the difference is incredible. Edit: the “male vet” responded to my review with a rude comment then changed it a couple weeks later.
