How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Village Veterinary

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Facility Tour

All the staff at Village Vet are the best! The front desk and vet techs are so attentive and loving to my pups. My 13 year old boy had been having hip issues the last year, slipping, not being able to walk on tiled floors, restlessness, not wagging his tail, moaning and he started growling at me (which is NOT his typical behavior). He has always been a very active, sweet happy boy, something was wrong. Dr. Burgess checked him out, and recommended laser therapy. I was very skeptical of how “magic lights” could heal my dog, but omg it worked!! We did 6 treatments and he is back to his old self! Someone asked if he was 5 years old today, because of how spunky and friendly he is! Thank you Village Vet from bringing life back to my sweet 13 year old boy! I couldn’t be more happy with the experience!

Dr. Pullen has taken care of the babies for more than 15 yrs. When having to let 2 of the babies go over the rainbow bridge 🌈 he was so kind. I trust Dr. Pullen and the pups love him. 🐾

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Robert Burgess and his team. Our dear kitty Lilo was part of our family for 20 years. My daughters and I arrived at the clinic to meet Dr. Burgess who kindly and gently gave Lilo an exam. He then guided us on making one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make. We made the right decision. That was last week. Yesterday in the mail our family received a bereavement card with the entire team's condolences and kind words written inside. Inside the card was also a print of Lilo's paw. We also received a clay disk with Lilo's paw print. Our household wept. It brought us chills and softened this time. Well done team, well done.
