How to Save Money at Sarasota Town Center Animal Hospital - Vetco Total Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Was able to schedule an appointment online the same day. Took both cats in, Laurie at the front desk was wonderful. Nurse goes over what everything costs before any treatment and the doctor was very patient and responsive to any of my questions. Wonderful experience.

Would give 0 stars if that was possible. Spent $150 on flee meds for my baby’s and they 100% did not work! Went to the store and showed pictures and was told there was nothing they could do even though we bought them there. Asked to speak to the Manager “Chris”. he was not in on a Monday. Asked if he could call me ASAP never got a call! Been on hold for 15min trying to find him. Save your money people and go somewhere else! This place is not pet friendly! Its all about the money!

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the exceptional care that Dr. Laddaga , Chris the vet tech, and the entire team at Sarasota Town Center Animal Hospital have provided for my beloved 6-year-old German Shepherd, Pharaoh. They always have gone above and beyond, and I couldn't be happier with the level of care and attention they have given him. Pharaoh has complex health issues that have required ongoing treatment and monitoring, and Dr. Laddaga has been an absolute godsend throughout this journey. His expertise, compassion, and dedication to Pharaoh's well-being have been nothing short of remarkable. Dr. Ladagga always takes the time to thoroughly explain Pharaoh's condition and treatment options, ensuring that I am fully informed and comfortable with every decision we make. Chris, the vet tech, deserves special recognition as well. His gentle and caring approach to handling Pharaoh (who can be a challenge) has made every visit to the clinic a positive one. He is always there to answer my questions and provide reassurance, making the entire process much less stressful for both Pharaoh and me. Also, the entire team at Sarasota Town Center Animal Hospital consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence and professionalism. It's clear that they all share a passion for animals and their well-being. I am grateful to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable team taking care of Pharaoh. Their empathy and compassion are truly exceptional. I cannot thank Dr. Laddaga , Chris, and the entire staff enough for their exceptional care and support. If you're looking for a vet that TRULY cares about YOU and YOUR PET I urge you to see Dr. Laddaga and his staff. I have been to PLENTY of other vets in the Sarasota area. None have provided me the level of care that Dr. Lagoda and his staff provides. Five stars does not seem like enough to convey how truly amazing they are. Thank you again Dr. Laddaga and staff! :)

I went there with my dog because she had bump on her chest. The reception and nurse were really nice. When I got there I waited for the vet for 30 minutes. Then when he finally came he took my dog in another room to give the exam and give her the shots. I’ve never been in a different room than my dog at any other vet. Then 5 minutes later ( did he really di anything) he came back and he told me that the bump was probably a wart and “Too small” to take a sample ( the bump was the size of my thumb) and that I had to come back in a week because it was going grow and that he would then be able to determine what it was. 3 days later the “wart” disappeared. Will not go there again and won’t recommend.
