How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Sarasota Animal Medical Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Had a great experience from the time we entered with the reception to a complete plan of care for my dog by the Vet. Everyone was caring, informative and provided quality care. Destiny works with our Aussie and is wonderful, gentle and excellent with her skills. We just love working with her.

After several mixed experiences/ some good (Dr Green), some bad (other vets in the practice), and consistent poor service at the front desk, we had a truly unacceptable experience. Our dog was not given the proper diagnostic test for possible Lymphoma upon us bringing her in for enlarged under mandibular lymph nodes. She was given a blood test that was negative for lymphocytes- we were told she did not have lymphoma and sent home with antibiotics. Shortly after this visit, we returned to Ohio for the Summer/Fall. We took our dog to her Ohio vet as her nodes had only further enlarged while taking the course of antibiotics. Our Ohio vet did a different test - each lymph node was aspirated. This test was positive for Lymphoma. Our Ohio vet was stunned to learn the vet at sarasota animal medical center did not aspirate. Her opinion was that is the gold standard to determine if positive for Lymphoma. We lost 3 weeks due to the wrong diagnostic testing. I wrote an email sharing the outcome and never got a response. My dog is doing well, thankfully, but we could have started her treatment much earlier if the right test had been done here. This is simply not ok.
