How to Save Money at Pinellas Point Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

New name. Same great vets! Holly works the front desk, who is always quick it answer the phone is so helpful. When the vet calls to review blood work they are very thorough and never feel like I’m rushed.

My visits are always great Holly is always friendly an on top of things up front Niko is great with the girls there Lazer always goes well the only issue is the new pharmacy I like to keep things in one place an the new pharmacy is more expensive on shipping the don't have guaranteed next day and recommend i do r use them for my heart med they actually get it from the old pharmacy talking with the manufacturer it must be kept below 86 degrees if not it's no good the pill form ok in shipping but my dog won't take it so using the oral solution means finding a place like vetsource that will send it next day air with an ice pack so it stays at the proper temperature .but everything else is great the staff is great Dr. Hollands was great with my girl my experience with this office has been great overall

My car is my whole world and we had to find a new vet after moving to the area. I’m so glad I went with Central Animal Hospital! The location is convenient, the facility is CLEAN, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It’s imperative for me to have a vet who is invested in my cats health and well-being and I received that in troves during our visit. They even gave us a cute bag and a treat to go along with his meds! We are VERY grateful!!!

We transferred here in order to follow a vet that we absolutely loved. Our initial visit was fine, however they didn’t give any guidance on getting a written prescription that I could use to get a medicine I mentioned I could get significantly cheaper online. I called first thing in the morning to get this prescription and was rudely addressed by the front desk employee Holly who said I signed a contract that they don’t work directly with them and they request 24 hours for refills. I let her know that we had requested these prescriptions the day prior at our vet appointment and I needed to get them today. After no updates I stopped in on my way home from work to check in on them and she then got the Veterinary manager Kasey who was extremely rude and defensive, and raised her voice at me in front of other customers when I remained calm. I let them know that I needed to get the prescription in order to send it in because the medication cannot be given late based on my dogs diagnosis. She argued with me that I could pay significantly more from their vet and could get the medication faster, and I told her I didn’t have the money to be able to do that since my baby just had 10,000$ in emergency vet bills. We were disappointed as we loved our vet but it seems as though this practice only cares about making money and lack basic morals and empathy for pet owners and try to red tape getting necessary care for pets . I also don’t think it was appropriate, respectful, or professional practice the way they handled the situation.

When I say great treatment there should be a picture of this place right next to that definition. The doctor is very relatable, and she understands as an animal lover how we feel about our pets. Her communication is superb, and her staff is very very welcoming! I would highly recommend this place for pets and for people they are amazing!! They took great care of my six day old puppies!! I trust them!!
