How to Save Money at Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Look no further for the best emergency animal Hospital because I’ve found it! Open 24/7, clean, updated, and comfortable hospital. I found Beacon in distress after my pet was injured at a boarding facility and they were able to see him immediately which most definitely saved his life. Had I gone to the first hospital that showed on Google, I’m not sure what the outcome would have been as they had a 3 hour wait. They did an immediate assessment and the doctor was quickly able to tell me what he needed. For having a traumatic situation, this is exactly what you need as the anxiety of not knowing what’s going on can be agonizing. There was a specialist, Dr. Weaver who completed an ultrasound for a liver issue they were trying to diagnose for after the trauma. She was able to see him the next day and she later found that he had a tumor that was unrelated to his injuries. Dr. Weaver went above and beyond to go to our regular vet hospital to complete a recheck a few weeks later to determine if he needed surgery. Had there not been a specialist who was able to see him quickly, I’m not sure if we would have found the cancerous tumor on his liver through all this. I can’t thank Dr. Weaver, Dr. Page, Dr. Nicole and Dr. Sawyer enough for the amazing care Finnegan received. I can’t remember everyone’s names but all the nurses and front staff who helped us were incredibly patient, knowledgeable and friendly. Each one of you that helped us over this month long process truly cares. I never had to wait long for an update or for them to answer my calls when my pet was having issues. Doctors called directly to update you. They were a phone call away and I loved the option to come visit my pet at anytime. We hope to not see you again ha! I’m hoping for many more years to come with Finnegan all thanks to you guys. Thanks again for everything.

Please, save yourself the heartbreak and never ever take your beloved companion here. I truly have no idea how this place has a 4.7 ranking. It has taken me over 4 months to write this review without breaking down into tears. We rushed our sweet dog into Beacon in the middle of the night due to excessive drooling and foaming from the mouth (our dog just had her infected uterus removed two days prior) panicking and seeing my dog In AWFUL discomfort the staff did nothing to help. The vet severely misdiagnosed my sweet girl and gave her a shot of insulin and told us she was diabetic due to high glucose in her urine. We were sent home with such confusion as to how she became diabetic within two days…but the vet said it was possible. The next day our sweet girl passed away from sepsis in such a traumatic way. I will NEVER forgive this place for causing such tragedy not only on my dog, but me and my family. We have gone as far as filing a complaint with the American Veterinary Medicine Association on the vet we had that night in hopes that her license will be revoked and she is no longer able to practice. I have added some photos of my sweet girl in hopes that the staff at Beacon will see this post and know how much they took away from me.This may not bring her back, but it will serve Justice for my girl.

Took my baby girl there for urgent care at 3 am. They got right to her. Between sedation, labs and X-rays every step was in detail. When it was discovered she’d need surgery that too was explained well. They are truly dedicated professionals that know what they’re doing. My girl home resting comfortably now.

Sunday night I had to rush Penny to Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital. I noticed that she had stopped eating her dinner abruptly and was acting strangely. Upon further investigation I discovered that her tongue was blue and she was having a hard time breathing. Once getting there they provided oxygen and quickly set for a X-ray. The X-ray show that she had a FB in her trachea( dog food kibble) Hands down the scariest thing I have gone through thus far with my fur babies. Thank you to to all the staff at Beacon for taking such amazing care of my baby ♥️ She is doing much better today !
