How to Save Money at Brickell Bay Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I was a good and regular client at this vet. Coming from France I never knew the prices or anything and never asked. Once I brought my dog because she was itching, they said it’s normal, they gave me expensive pills that I paid for, plus the consultation that was like 280$ total. The next time, I went there for her vaccines, and they said oh she’s itching it’s not normal. I said I came for this last time and they said everything is normal, so I was surprise that when I come for vaccine they say she needs a new treatment because it’s probably food allergies and the pills they gave her last time won’t work because it contains meat. So they said I have to give her a new pill, change the one they sells me a previous time for parasites because it’s no longer good for this diet, and purchase new dog food. I started getting a little upset because last time I came and paid for nothing and got a wrong diagnosis and they have me paid twice plus the products to purchase something that could have been solved once. After this I started having doubts on them and emailed them to get a detailed invoice with the price of the vaccines one by one, I never got an answer. I emailed them several times, they never got back to me. Now I’m calling them today for an emergency with met dog that has blood in her stools, and they said they are no longer willing to treat my dog because they are not comfortable with me anymore since I complained about the crazy charges and the wrong diagnosis. They had no problem receiving my dog when she was perfectly fine saying she had allergies and charging me for crazy treatments, but they denied helping her when she has blood on her stools and there’s an emergency. These kind of vets should not be allowed to exercice. As a get you should commit to animals safety first, not money. All they care about is money, they don’t get back to you if you’re dissatisfied, AND, if they are not comfortable because you complained about something that was their mistakes and was unfair for you, they would let your dog die. Stay away from these scammers, they will take advantage of your devotion and love to your pet, they don’t deserve their vet licence I’m currently opening a case on them. STAY AWAY !

When I first came to BBAH, it was for a general check up on both my furbabies. I have a 2yr old female Staffie, and at that time I had a 2yr male American Shorthair cat. They were so welcoming, patient, attentive, and extremely informative. They treated my babies with very gentle love and care. I saw my cat so taken in with them, I can tell he felt safe. Dr. Tak was very sweet, open minded, and very easy to talk to. You can feel and see; the passion and love she has for animals. Everyone was so pleasant to deal with. From the front desk, where I was warmly welcomed by Nahi and Julio. To the examination room down to the back of house, if that’s what you would call it. My overall experience was great. But, what took their service from great to 5+ stars. Is when unfortunately my cat passed away from a chronic condition. They took the time to purchase a card, where the whole staff wished their condolences. Something they didn’t have to do. It meant so much to me, that they displayed that amount of kindness, to a fairly new patient. Because, of that small detail of consideration and compassion; I am now staying with them permanently. Thank you BBAH for your service and everything else in between.

I am so happy I found this place! I moved to Miami earlier this year and hadn’t established a vet until all of a sudden I really needed one… My pup was having an issue and they were able to see me the same day I called. The staff is super friendly, the doctor was so knowledgeable. Everyone made both me and Loki feel safe and comfortable. I highly recommend BBAH!

What a wonderful vet. It's rare you find such a great vet. I am new to town and my dog cut her paw on glass really badly, they got me in within 15 minutes and moved things around for us. I've been to vets where something like this would have taken hours to be seen. Highly recommend.

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the team at Brickell Bay Animal Hospital. If you are looking for a vet in Miami/Brickell then this is your home. We moved to Miami about 3.5 years ago and were so nervous about finding the right vet for our Frenchie. We are so grateful for all of their love and care over the past few years. We have had to take our Frenchie in pretty often for a variety of different reasons (allergies, tummy issues, general exams) and they are always so loving, responsive and helpful. They let me ask all of the questions I need, always make room for us in their schedule, and they follow up immediately after each visit to check on her, staying on top of everything that she needs. She is our child, and we feel at ease knowing that we have them. Thank you to the whole team, and Dr. Minnigan for always taking such good care of Mila. We are grateful!
