How to Save Money at VetIQ Petcare

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It is good for the price. Always long waits for something simple. Even when there are only 2 people. Waited over an hr with one person in front, for a nail trim. Conveniente location

June 17, answered the phone and told me they refuse to see me anymore as a “safety precaution”. I have never been aggressive with them, they do not like that I update this review each time they are closed and I am unable to renew the plan they sold me. So now, they continue to rip me off by refusing service. Waste your time, take your money and then tell you to go to a real vet. The vet is never there and I will start documenting each of the times I’ve tried to go and the vet wasn’t there, starting in March even though there have been at least eight occurrences since October that I’ve tried and not been able to go because the vet wasn’t there or they were closed. Further details included at the bottom. February 2, vet out on “family emergency” Saturday March 18, closed when they should be open. Thursday March 23. Vet “out sick” Wednesday May 17, Vet not in. Told ideally she’ll be back tomorrow but to call first. June 1, office closed June 24, office closed They rarely actually have a vet on site, they offer limited services, they are frequently closing early because the vet had a family emergency, they've gone through multiple vets in the past few months I have been taking my pet there and they just arent worth it. Calling the help line is a waste of time, they are always “experiencing a higher than usual cal volume” it automatically hangs up on you and/or you get stuck on a lengthy hold. They roped me into a year long monthly wellness payment plan that I am not getting my moneys worth because they never have a vet so I can't use them when I need them. They are also closed Sundays and Mondays. I do not recommend one of their monthly plans because getting services here is hit or miss, I am paying $27.99 a month for something I can't use. I was just told I will have to pay nearly $200 to cancel their contract... for services I am not even getting. Edit: this place is truly awful. Took her back in when the dr decided to actually show up. Spent two seconds with her and decides she has cancer. Huh that weird cuz last month you said she has allergies. Which she does. Refused to prescribe her allergy meds until I go pay someone else to run hundreds in tests to say she doesn’t have cancer. Literally this place is a waste of money. Second edit: they responded to have me call them corporate. I already did prior to leaving this review, I was told they were sorry but didnt think there was anything they could do about the Vet regularly calling out and it would be over $200 for me to cancel my contract.

Took excellent care of my pet during it's exam and covered exactly what I needed to have done in order to travel with them, separate from what things were optional. Appreciated the lack of sales-pitch pressure some places apply.
