How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My dog had rectal bleeding after taking it to this vet for a checkup. This had never happened to any of my dogs ever. When I called and shared my concern I was told to bring my own sample next time. There will NOT be a next time. There are many competent Doctors in Melbourne that do care about the wellness of pets. We will be going to a caring Dr. from now on. Shame on you.

Do not recommend the blonde haired vet she is absolutely horrible. If you have to work with her I suggest leaving. She was passive aggressive and manipulative. All to try and get money out of me and disregarding what other vets have told me.

I can only give 3 stars because: 1) I paid close to $1,000, and 2) they didn't inform me or find the issues with my furbaby. I walked into Banfield as an emergency patient, and they did take my furbaby for an exam immediately, did blood work and x-rays immediately, and they kept me informed. Obviously, this was ALL VERY VERY GOOD! While waiting, I did my best to forward ALL my furbaby's records so they had as much information as possible. However, while speaking with the Dr, she was not able to tell me the issue/s with my furbaby. Now, a good 24 hours later, $1,000 lighter, my furbaby still has the same issue. I'm thinking, watching him walk, my furbaby is struggling with his ACL, which was operated on (his normal vet) about 9-10 months ago. The reason I believe the issue is the ACL region, when he walks some steps he drags, or at least you can hear the dragging of his toe nails, on that leg. My furbaby will see his normal doctor today. I'm disappointed only with the lack of information from the vet. This could have been inexperienced or because of being an emergency situation, etc. I AM VERY GRATEFUL, VERY THANKFUL, THEY DID EXAM MY FURBABY IMMEDIATELY EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT PATIENTS OF BANFIELD. Their level of professionalism and level of customer service was excellent. The only reason for my 3 out of 5 stars rating, I never given a diagnosis or anything for pain.

This place is ridiculous, they won’t refill your pets prescription without them coming in for a checkup that’s expensive. My dog was diabetic and needed insulin to live and they wouldn’t refill her prescription without her coming in for the day to do some insulin curve thing that she hated doing and eventually she got really sick and unfortunately passed. If they had just refilled her insulin when she needed it she would probably still be here. I think they should have to refill that stuff for pets that need it to survive.

We had a 20 year old kitty who suddenly took a turn for the worst this past Saturday morning. Our regular vet was on vacation and we didn't want to go to the animal ER. We knew nothing could be done and didn't want her to suffer. Banfield gave us an appointment to come right in. Dr Barbosa & Savannah were so kind and compassionate as they helped our girl cross over. For that we are so grateful.
