How to Save on Veterinary Costs at River Oaks Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Went in with my hedgehog while they had the free first visit special. (Don't know if they're still doing that) He was very sick and has since passed away, but they were so sweet and gentle with him. They were understanding of my situation and were willing to work with me to pay for any treatments available that I wanted to try. Jennifer at the desk was great. She snuck my appointment in early even though they were busy so that I didn't miss my son getting off of school. Thanks you guys!! Here's pics of my dude before he got cancer 😊

Dr. Ortiz is an excellent vet. She practices both eastern and western medicine and is a wealth of knowledge. She is kind, patient and never rushes when examining our dogs. She is able to explain exactly what is going on and what will help them to stay healthy. I feel very lucky that we found this amazing Dr.

Their communication is impeccable which is so important to me. They’re honest and do not over charge. You can also tell how much they truly care. As sad as I am to drop of my dog I always feel at ease with them.

In all the years (35) that I have patronized ROAH they have gone above and beyond for each of my beagles (4). I highly recommend them to anyone looking for personalized and exceptional service.

I used to work at both river oaks and pet paradise and I would love to give some insight to why you should chose this clinic for your animals care. The first thing to understand is in order for your animal to receive the best medicine possible diagnostic testing is necessary. Please know that treatment plans are presented to you with the costs of the testing and treatment because, we want to be as open and honest with you about the value of the treatment. Basically, what your paying for and why. If you decline testing or diagnostics it does make it harder to treat as accurately as needed. We also understand that medicine can be expensive. Both doctors work very hard to give the best treatment they can advise even if funds are limited, this is a quality I truly appreciated because for them it’s all about your fur-baby! Second, please always have records. It is important that we understand your pet from the inside out. We want to make sure we are providing the best care and baseline values and history is the best way for that. Third and last, Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Carter and the rest of the staff are highly qualified in animal care and will not guide you the wrong way. They care for you and your fur-baby! This has been the best clinic I have personally experienced and recommended it strongly!
