How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Companion Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

This is BY FAR the best place to take your pet. My dog Frank has never liked the vet since rescuing him and so he does show some pretty serious aggression while there. Regardless of this, all of the staff love him (and put up with him in a muzzle), I thought for sure that he would be either put down or ATLEAST cancelled as a patient after a vet tech got bit, but no. We are currently working on this vet aggression issue very hard and truly appreciate all of the staff!!!!

Our baby Riff Raff entered the last stage of his life at 15 1/2 years. The Dr and staff were so compassionate and took such good care of him. I couldn't have asked for better care during such a heartbreaking time.

From bringing our New Pup home last March to getting ready to move this year. Companion has been awesome for us and our pups who are happy and healthy. Everything is up front to so you KNOW what to expect. Our last visit to check out our oldest was due to a sniffle that had gotten worse and an occasional wobble in the walk BUT we were in and out in 30 minutes with x-rays, blood work, and meds. TY so much and we will miss you guys.

Dr. Mattson is wonderful and really took good care of my little dachshund. She went way above and beyond what I expected. I would highly recommend her to everyone. The rest of the staff so friendly and helpful. Your pets will be in very capable hands. Thank you to everyone at this clinic.
