Our Doctor and assistant were so wonderful With our two cats. They always are. This technician concentrated on calming our cats the whole time. Far better experience than I was afraid it would be with the one aggressive cat. Everything about the visit was great. And everyone was Super! I made my husband come with since we have two now. And he was even impressed!! Now that we have pets again, I am so thankful to have a place we can call home to take care of our kitties whenever needed. I don't even know where to begin, so I'll start here: had I known Park Heights Animal Care Center existed, this would have been my very first call when we moved to Fruitland Park. Period. This would have been the end of the story. Full stop - fanfreakingtabulous. My French Bulldog, Betty Boop, is a queen (just run with it, she does). She's also a complex patient: a stage 2 soft tissue sarcoma survivor with recurring neurological episodes that had gone frustratingly unresolved for far too long, and a dog who is highly reactive to other animals. Getting her the right care has been an exhausting journey through multiple practices. Not that anything was wrong with those practices, they just weren't the right fit. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find what you need. Worth every step now that I know what I know. From the moment I reached out, I knew something was different. When I mentioned Betty's reactivity in my initial email, they didn't just acknowledge it, they built an entire protocol around it. Call when you arrive, wait in the car, come in when it's clear. No chaotic waiting room. No other animals. Just calm. For a reactive dog owner that single accommodation was everything. It was the most STRESSLESS experience I could have asked for. Then there's Dr. Candice Manganaro. She gave me the fire hose of information I had been craving and couldn't find anywhere else. She took Betty's full history seriously, not just the most recent visit, not just the easiest label, all of it. She was thorough enough to question findings from previous practices, and in doing so discovered that a heart murmur Betty had been told she had likely never existed. That moment told me everything I needed to know about the standard of care here. When it came to Betty's neurological episodes, something I had long suspected were seizure related rather than purely back pain, Dr. Manganaro didn't dismiss me. She listened, engaged with my observations, and agreed that ruling out back pain was quite possibly warranted despite breed predisposition. She explained how seizure conditions typically develop, outlined a clear path forward including Keppra if episodes continue, and is checking in with us every two weeks to monitor progress on Gabapentin. That is not just good medicine. That is a partner in care. A Vet who cares. A practice who walks the walk. The staff matched Dr. Manganaro's energy completely, genuinely kind, gentle, and accommodating in a way that felt real, not rehearsed. Betty, who has been through more vet visits than any dog should have to endure recently, was calmer than I've seen her. She shook during the exam, she always does these days because of the experiences she's endured, but she rested. Multiple times. In a vet's office. That says everything. I walked in hoping to finally be heard. Certainly not because I wanted to label my dog - just someone to engage with what was happening. I walked out with answers, a prescription, a plan, check-in calls scheduled, and for the first time in a very long time, a partner. I can breath a sigh of relief now. Betty Boop has found her vet. And so have I. And we're just getting started. Here is to a hopeful future. Thank you Dr. Manganaro and the entire Park Heights team. You gave my girl exactly what she deserved, to be treated like the queen she is (seriously I said roll with that above, learn it as that's what she is, ha!).

Everybody we've met there loves animals and is very empathetic and gentle with our pets. The vets are very knowledgeable about the issues my pets face, and works with me to come up with the best plan for each of them. They do things like use pheromones for my cat and get down on the floor with my dogs to help them feel comfortable during exams. I love this place!

We're new to the area. We had sort of an emergency so we used Park heights. First visit was great with Dr.Tatum St.Pierre besides the vet tech/helper. I have a somewhat aggressive Great dane. Shes never bit anyone but the tech wasn't the nicest. This visit was monday, We needed xrays, they pushed us off and told us theyd get us in tomorrow, again..My Great dane can't walk all of a sudden. They finally called Thursday to see her on Friday for sedation and xrays We had to wait 4 days for my dog to get xrays!! Friday: sedation then here comes the helper/tech to check to see if she's still awake. She had a vest on, the tech picked her up by her vest and dropped her and said she's not fully asleep yet. Ring the door bell when she's sleeping. She treated my pup like a rag doll and never responded to the door bell. We waited in a room for over an hour before they took her for xrays. 2nd doc we see on Fri Dr. Allison Stuhl is talking in circles and not making much sense. They have her on 4 medications and never told me how to give them and prescription bottles dont have times, or doses on bottles either. Now it's Friday night and we're struggling to help my dog with pain and walking on her own and nobody to contact after hours. Ooh and my vet bill was $1400.00 and here it is Sunday night and my dog is in tons of pain. I wont be taking my Great dane back there if thats the way animals are treated. I was so upset with the tech with the shaved head. She literally dropped my dog back on the ground ASLEEP and said she wasn't ready yet 😒

I recently inherited my daughter’s dog who lived in San Diego. He is now 7 years old and has had several medical issues. A friend of mine told me that he sees Dr Manganero at Park heights Ave animal clinic. So. I made an appointment because he was due for his yearly physical. The Vet that I saw was Michelle Zappacosta. She wanted to know what he was being fed. My daughter had many tests done and the Vet in San Diego put him on Raw Duck by Chewy. He is allergic to chicken. Of course she said that was wrong. And that she was not a big fan of Dr Martys food either. Do I asked her what she recommends. Hills puppy chow. Really. I paid for a physical and all she did was look in his ears. She tried to sell me on several lab tests. When I told her that I need a refill for some pills he was taking when he throws up she said that she can’t supply without doing a series of testing that was already done in San Diego. I feel this was a real rip off. What a waste of time.
