How to Save on Veterinary Costs at PEAK Veterinary Surgery
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Compare Pet Insurance Plans
You can compare coverage options from multiple providers to find a plan that fits your budget and your pet’s healthcare needs.
Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.
Final Note
Pet care decisions often involve both medical and financial considerations. Having access to trusted veterinary information alongside pet insurance comparisons can help pet parents feel more confident when planning for their pet’s health and wellbeing.

The expert care Dr. Baum and his all-star surgical team have provided our sweet Charlie (2 yr old English Bulldog) is simply unmatched. We specifically chose Dr. Baum because he is one of 2% of all U.S. Veterinarians with the distinguished credential of a Diplomate of Surgery specialist, by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, which requires many more years of surgical training and experience. After 4 surgical procedures on our sweet Charlie, I know you will not find a Vet more qualified, honest, fair, and mindful to care for your pet before, during, and after surgery, than Dr. Baum and his team. We are all so fortunate to have his highly sought after specialty surgical expertise in our local community. So if you want the best of the best in your pet’s operating room, Peak Vet is the place, hands down.

Dr Baum is a highly skilled, experienced, and caring pet surgeon. He was able to operate on my small dog twice. First, a TBL and the second an emergency surgery to remove a bladder stone. I am grateful for him and so happy my dog has a new zest for life!

I've lived in Florida for 4 years now, and I haven't met too many people I trust. I deeply trust Dr. Baum and his staff. I met with him yesterday, I didn't feel rushed at all as I asked all of my questions. He is very easy to understand and communicates very well with your primary vet. I trust him with my pets which I love more than anything. The facility was beautiful and very clean. I highly recommend Peak Veterinary Surgery.

We met Dr. Baum for our Maltese , Ricardo on his hind back leg that got injured. This MD is a rare find. He is honest , thorough with lots of integrity. There were other doctors that wanted to immediately operate on him for the money. Whereas Dr. Baum did another Xray and was not convinced that surgery was appropriate at this time. It’s very refreshing to find an MD with so much honesty and integrity. He took us on a walk through of his new facility and it was the state of the art equipment.

Dr. Jared Baum is great. We had surgery scheduled for the next day, but with our extended x-rays Dr Baum noticed a bladder stone and postponed our planned leg surgery. Not much more we can ask for than a local professional, in this case, vet surgeon being A+ ethical. We're grateful.
