How to Save on Veterinary Costs at VCA Daytona Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

A very BIG shout-out and deepest gratitude to Dr. Whetstone and the entire staff at VCA on Beville! I took advantage of their Free First Visit as I did at another "Vet/Pet Store" and the difference was like night and day. My 13 yr. old female Shih Tzu mix had developed a nasty growth right by the corner of her eye. I hesitated to take her to her regular vet as some months ago they quoted me an estimate of nearly $700 to remove a golf ball size clump on the top of her head. A vet-tech friend took a look and explained that the attachment to the scalp was minimal and removal would be a very simple procedure requiring no anesthesia nor sedative and that my dog would feel nothing and bleeding would be minimal if any and would heal within a few days. When I asked what it would cost The vet tech friend said "nothing, this is a nothing burger". I thanked her and gave her a nice tip all the same. The result was as if the clump never existed. So when this growth appeared by her eye I wanted to get some feed back as to what I was dealing with before going to see her regular vet. And the Free First offers were ideal. The first Free First Visit vet basically just referred me to an ophthalmologist who when I called informed me that the initial consultation fee would be nearly $250. I then reached out to VCA to take advantage of their Free First Visit offer. And that was my lucky day! Within minutes of seeing Dr.Whetstone I could tell she was genuinely all about the care for the animals. She took her time during the examination explaining in detail what I was dealing with and possible options. She told me that she would confer with her colleague and get back to me later that day, And she did! Long story short she was able to remove the growth at a cost LESS than the Ophthalmologist's fee for the initial consultation! Dr. Whetstone and her staff prioritize the well being of the animals in their care and take into consideration the financial constraints pet owners of modest means are facing. Dr. Whetstone at VCA on Beville is now my dog's regular vet as we have scheduled a follow up visit in 6 months. I am grateful and would highly recommend Dr. Whetstone and VCA on Beville, Thank You!!!

The fact that Dr. Whetstone spent extra time getting to know my pup is a testament to her dedication to providing top-notch care and compassion to her patients. Thank you so much. The hospital also has friendly staff and a comfortable waiting room.

Great appointment. Dr. Whetstone and Vet Assistant Bobby were amazing with our Coconut. He is a stray cat that is sweet, but anxious at Vet. They were very gentle yet proactive in getting his nails clipped, ears cleaned, checked teeth, heart, full examine all while being hissed at. Dr Whetstone then discussed with us the plan to get Coconut happy and healthy. We are very pleased with VCA office staff they were very informative and helpful . Also loved how they had a board welcoming their new patients with their names. So cute. ❤️🐾
