How to Save Money at Greenwich Veterinary Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Colberg is the best. She is patient, kind and understanding. I trust her and her staff to take good care of my dog. I recently boarded my dog for the first time ever (my dog is 12) and was so nervous to leave her but knew she would be in good hands. I picked her up this morning. Although she was so happy to see me, I know she was well taken care of.

It is hard to express how fortunate I feel to be a client of Greenwich Vet Center. I trust Dr. Camila Colberg with my entire being, and know that every staff member employed by GVC is top of the class. This is a wonderful practice. I know that regardless of what I bring through the door, there will be no qualms & it will be handled with the highest standard of care regardless of the circumstances. Thank you all 🙏

I've been a customer of Greenwich Veterinary Center for a little over a year now. I usually deal with Leslie and Melissa who I can be speak very highly of. My mother took my pup Bella in for a check up and blood work on 10/5. I had requested a 3 month supply of Incurin a tablet she takes daily since sometimes Chewy.com is out and it saves me a monthly trip. Today, after finishing her last pack, I went to open up the 3 month supply which I had purchased from GVC, and was shocked to find that one box only had 2 pills in it and that all three boxes expired at the end of this month 10/2021. I thought no problem, let me head over there and have them take a look into this. The front desk receptionist called Camille, the manager, down. I was greeted by a "Hello, you mean to tell me this was all that was in the box?" To which I responded yes. "Impossible, I know what comes into this store." Camille then proceeded to tell me that if I didn't want to pay for all 3 boxes that was fine but I wasn't going to get refunded for the box that had 2 pills in it and that technically the pills weren't expired. It's a 3 month supply that I purchased THIS month that are expiring in 5 days. I told her I didn't have a problem paying for the three boxes, that wasn't the point. Her attitude and disrespect was uncalled for. I never once asked for a refund nor did I say I didn't want to pay for something. As soon as another customer came in, she tried to defuse the situation but at that point, I wasn't having it. I myself work in customer service and I would never treat someone the way she treated me - her attitude and disrespectful smirk was not something I would ever except from GVC. She also was unable to explain why Bella was never given her Influenza shot on 10/5 or a Parasite Screen which was also supposed to happen on the day of her visit. I am not one to write negative reviews but I am seriously appalled at her professionalism.

I was very happy with how my cat was treated here. so often I feel cats take 2nd place to dogs in vets' interest but that was not the case here. they were very kind and gentle to both of us! I will def return. my prices: $90 appt fee $83 fecal test (and called me next day with results) rabies shot $69 nail trim $35 allergy shot $55 (that worked within 2 days!)
