How to Save Money at Red Rocks Animal Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I recently received results indicating that my dog is unwell. I was supposed to get the results after Thanksgiving, but I didn’t receive them until December 5th. This delay was especially concerning because the condition could spread to my cats — who are also their patients — and could even pose a risk to humans. I asked for oral medication and a copy of the prescriptions for both my dog and my cats. Instead, the clinic refused and claimed they “needed more test results” — even though they already knew what the issues were. It felt like they were pushing unnecessary tests rather than helping. Their actions came across as them just wanting more money. On top of that, the clinic is very overpriced. One of my kittens was extremely sick and had 5 to 7 infections in his system. The prescription medication they had given me had already run out, and when I asked for a refill, they told me he needed to be retested again to “see if he was still infected.” Excuse me — 5 to 7 infections do not magically heal overnight. Of course he would still need treatment. Retesting instead of simply continuing the medication made no sense and felt like another way to charge more. Overall, the logic didn’t add up, and the lack of compassion and support was unacceptable. I strongly advise against using this veterinary clinic. In my experience, they were unhelpful, money-focused, overpriced, and not truly concerned about my pets’ health. I recommend finding a more honest, reasonable, and compassionate vet.

I was referred to this vet by someone and I talked to someone on the phone to schedule my appointment for my dog. The experience was not great. Upon getting there 15 minutes to my appointment time I waited in the waiting room once in there for an additional 30 minutes past my appointment to be seen. My appointment was for a wellness checkup and pregnancy test for my dog. Upon coming in the vet ran straight into my dogs face petting her. We had informed the staff she was anxious around people and other dogs. I don’t believe my dog would have hurt her in anyway but I feel as though she didn’t approach my dog with any caution. She then informed me that they were unable to a blood pregnancy test they could only do an ultra sound image but that that would likely not be the best form of identifying if my dog was pregnant as we couldn’t pin point the day she would have gotten matted. I went ahead with the expensive ultrasound as I wanted to know as my dog was bleeding. The vet don’t explain to me anything about her cycle or other causes of bleeding she had no answer besides I’m not a reproductive vet to answer that. They didn’t check my dog as I would expect a wellness check I asked about her weight for her breed and age and it was the office desk lady that had informed me of what she thought was okay other than taking her weight they didn’t preform any other type of check on her or examine her.

This facility offers low cost services for annual shots and check ups. The vet assistant was so kind and asked the right questions before the vet came in. The male vet Ross was VERY personable and kind and my dog immediately went to him. He assessed her health quickly and offered referrals for things needed. The only reason I rate this facility lower than 5 is because the front desk woman was very short and unkind from the beginning interaction. This was my first time bringing my dog here so I was very nervous and to be greeted with a rude receptionist made me very uneasy and I wanted to leave immediately. Maybe she was just having a tough day but it definitely upset me enough to add this in. Thankfully the assistant and vet more than made up for it with their kindness and information! Will definitely go back and recommend this facility to family and friends!
